A sleek, stylish and comfortable hotel located in a lovely area, close to the historic area, the ropeway, the water and the warehouses. The tram stop isn’t too far away 🚃

“Good base in Hakodate”
Lovely blend of old and new. The staff were really friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Good location for motomachi and the red brick warehouses and close to tram stop. Fantastic bathroom and good amenities Fabulous stay.

“The best hostel”
Very clean, nice showers and toilets. The dorms are spacious and the location is great. The kitchen is very well stocked in terms of utensils (and oil!!!) and there is a nice rooftop space. We didn't eat at the onsite restaurant, but it smelt incredible..

“Fantasic shared room stay in Hakodate's tourist area.”
Perfect location right in the tourist heavy area of Hakodate. It's by the dockside at the base of Motomochi. An easy walk to the ropeway and a short tram ride away from the station. Very clean and comfortable space. Really nice showers and bathrooms. There's a communal chill out area and a work area at reception. Theres also an attached curry restaurant. It feels like a nice hotel whilst having the price and facilities as a hostel. Really unique and special experience. I was very happy here.

I had an amazing stay at HakoBA! From the moment I walked in, the space felt welcoming and thoughtfully designed – modern, clean, and full of character. The building beautifully preserves its classic charm while offering all the contemporary comforts you could want. The shared spaces were a real highlight. The lounge and kitchen areas are spacious, spotless, and perfect for relaxing or meeting other travelers. Everything was kept incredibly tidy, and the atmosphere was always pleasant and calm. The staff truly stood out – warm, friendly, and always ready with great local recommendations. Their hospitality made me feel right at home. My room was cozy, quiet, and well-equipped, with attention to detail that made a big difference. Comfortable bed, great lighting, and just the right amount of space. The bathrooms and showers were impeccably clean and well-stocked. Location-wise, it couldn’t have been better – close to key sights, restaurants, and public transport, but still tucked away enough for a peaceful night’s sleep. Whether you're a solo traveler, with friends, or on a business trip, HakoBA strikes the perfect balance between hotel quality and hostel-style community. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, high-quality shared hotel experience. Would I return? Without a doubt. Super clean and an amazing location. Stayed in the mixed dorm and was very happy with how quiet and private my cubby felt. Had a small combination lock cabinet for valuables above the bed. Great shared lounging space outside the dorms and awesome rooftop view. You need your key card to enter the female shower room, which made it feel very safe. I would definitely stay here again

“fantastic accommodation”
I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but there are some restaurants nearby. I really like humberger shop which takes about 10mins to get there. Many restaurants opens around 10am.

“Very solid option”
This is a really solid option for a hostel with nice and fun common areas — I loved the little loft area with the beanbags! Having a separate women's shower room that requires keycard access is also really nice. The shared kitchen is quite good and having fresh towels dropped off every day was a really nice touch. And the location is great!

Room size was spacious, room was well laid out with nice furnishings, staff were courteous and helpful and the hotel is well located for attractions and public transport
