Phil and Sue were the best hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely view over the stunning garden and pool.

Great welcome from our hosts with lots of tips about local attractions, places to eat, etc. We were upstairs but the other upstairs room was unoccupied so we had our room and a kitchen area with lounge to ourselves. So it was like having a suite or an apartment. We were handily placed for visiting the local attractions, Cathedral Cove is well worth the walk and the shuttle bus runs from right by the B&B. The Bistro is a really good restaurant and is literally at the bottom if the driveway, a 2 minute walk. Breakfast was great, freshly cooked to order if that was what you wanted but plenty of other options. Very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

I have never met such a friendly and helpfull couple in a B&B. They assisted with everything (Phill even changed our flat tyre!!). Lovely house and garden, walking distance to the small village and the beach. And easy access to Cathedral Cove and Hot water beach. Good beds and delicious breakfast. Perfect place !

“Perfect stay in Hahei”

We spent two wonderful nights at Sue’s and Phil’s B&B. Their house - stylish and tastefully furnished - is in a quiet location off the main road. It is an easy walk to the beach, pub and shops, 200 meter away from the Cathedral Cove shuttle and 150 to the excellent Church Bistro. Our room was spacious and full of light, equipped with two terraces opening to the beautiful garden and the pool. Sue and Phil are perfect hosts, warm and welcoming, giving lots of advice, even providing beach towels. Their breakfast is outstanding: Pancakes, fresh fruit salad, muesli, fully cooked breakfast, Phil is a master of poached eggs and Sue makes the most delicious smoothie. We will remember the nice conversation over breakfast. Highly recommended.

“The perfect location for a 3night weekend away from city life to unwind and lap up beach & bush.”

Hosts Phil & Sue are warm and welcoming. Phil's breakfasts were superb, from the fresh fruit through to full cooked breakfast with extra toast and barista coffee, which we enjoyed with other international guests. The location was perfect too - close to our friend's wedding destination, and to the Cathedral Cove shuttle, and an easy walk to the beach or shops. It was off the main road so no road noise, and Sue's beautiful garden provided privacy from each ensuite room out to the fully enclosed pool that was the perfect temperature for an afternoon swim.

Excellent B&B. Spacious room with outside sitting area. Great shower. Super breakfast - freshly cooked with good choices. Phil and Sue are welcoming and helpful hosts - lots of good local knowledge and useful suggestions. This property and Hahei are recommended. Nice beach, kayak trips are super and the beer and pizza at the Pour House recommended. Mercury Vineyard great on a nice sunny day.

During the 40 days we've been in New Zealand we've stayed in over 20 places, almost all have been great but our three nights at Hahei B&B have been exceptional. From the moment you arrive to the moment you depart Sue and Phil go to extraordinary lengths to make your stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. The room was tastefully furnished and well equipped, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spotless with high end appliances and the breakfasts were wonderful. Their advice about where to eat, where to visit and when was invaluable and they were as interested in what you'd done each day as they were in giving you advice. It helps that it's walkable to the beach and the village pub and restaurant. Their provision of beach/pool towels was welcome (as were the spades for digging your pool at Hot Water Beach!) and the pool was a tranquil retreat at the end of a busy day. In summary, Hahei B&B is run by two people who obviously enjoy running a B&B and want their guests to have the best possible experience of their corner of North Island and I can’t recommend it too highly. PS sorry there aren’t any photos - we were having such a great time that taking photos was the last thing on our minds!

The accommodation was superb. Very comfortable. Excellent location. Sue and Phil were brilliant hosts and they couldn't do enough for you. The pool was a bonus . Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was amazing. So well prepared. Little extras like biscuits, chocolate and water were appreciated.

“Short but very sweet stay in Hahei”

Wonderful and informative welcome from Phil and Sue to their beautiful place. Well situated with an easy 10 minute walk down to the town and stunning beach. Comfortable and well presented bedroom with excellent shower. Pool was also great in the sunshine! Church Bistro across the road was the best evening meal we’ve had so far and Phil and Sue’s breakfast was the best we’d had and fuelled us nice and ready for the next leg of the trip!
