“Just wonderful - tastefully restored old Japanese house, right next to the beach, with very chill host”

This lovely guesthouse is run by the chillest of hosts, who has thought carefully about every aspect of the decoration. Tastefully put together, in an old restored Japanese house, the bunk beds are comfy, there are ample facilities to cook, a collection of Hagi Yaki pottery to drink tea from, and nice communal spaces to chill in. It’s right next to the sea and not “far” from anything, but Hagi is not that big anyway. In the evenings incense was always burning and music was on - immaculate vibes.

“Homely stay with a really friendly owner”

We loved our stay here. The owner was very kind and helpful, and the hostel is very unique - you feel like you’re staying in someone’s home. The location is great, with just a short walk to get to Kikugahama Beach. Hagi isn’t the easiest to get to but it’s worth the journey, and it’s worth staying here if you do visit.

Really nice traditional guesthouse, makes you feel at home allowing you to use all the common spaces freely, meeting other people meanwhile. The beds were super comfortable as well.

Very old style Japanese house with a nice Japanese atmosphere. Very cozy to hang out in the common area with the other guests.

Typical Japanese place nearby the beach and very nice owner

The place is a typical japanese guesthouse with old charm. The tatami rooms are comfortable even if they can get crowded. There are two shared living rooms, one for smoking too there's a nice little garden and bar counter. I got lucky and met a smart and adventurous young lady from Germany, a like minded traveller. Good vibes. The host was nice.

Its truly beautiful, I really love it, it is pretty basic accommodation in beautiful old house with extremely nice common places

The house is not an anonymous hostel but a place with a special atmosphere. Hagi has a lot of traditional stuff to offer and Kominka Guesthouse helps you to get into the spirit! I was stuck here during the typhoon but I don't regret it, it's completely chilled out and quiet, the host is a nice guy and the rent a great bargain.

“Just like staying at a friends beach house!”

It was a heart-warming experience as if a long-term friend invited to stay at their place! The place is a bit far from the bus and train station (20-min walk), but it is 3-minute walk to beach, so if you want to be by the beach there is no better place! The supermarket and combini was within a 10-min walking distance.

“Social guest house”

Lovely traditional Japanese house, the owner was lovely and the guest house has a really nice social atmosphere so it was interesting to meet lots of other guests. The bed was comfy and there was lots of space for luggage. Good location
