“Amazing sea view and delicious vegetarian dishes”

I asked for no meat and if possible without fish and they did provide meals without both. They were clearly prepared with care and also some interesting dishes were among them. The onsen with sea view is really amazing. The room also had sea view with the port visible and in the night as well as in the day it was extremely pretty to look out the windows.

Entire experience was amazing - dinner was superb, there was an outdoor onsen which allows you to soak while looking at the stars, bed was also made for you while you’re at dinner! Also good selection of snacks for you to purchase. Staff were very friendly and courteous, able to park at the front of the hotel!

Pleasant ryokan, excellent breakfast and dinner (in yukata). Indoor and outdoor onsen. Nice atmosphere. Helpful staff.

“A great experience”

For a peak into some Japanese culture, this was excellent. We opted for half board & the food was very good. It was interesting to experience so many dishes & the way in which they serve them, all whilst taking in the amazing views from the restaurant. The Onsen also has incredible views & sitting in the outside bath watching the black kites circle overhead is worth it alone. The Japanese style rooms were lovely to see & experience but we found the mat type beds too hard/uncomfortable for us. It wouldn't put me off doing it again though for the overall experience. It is outside of the town but such an amazing spot & there is a free shuttle bus morning & afternoon into the centre. Finally all of the staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, on hand at all times.

“Super friendly staff, great view and nice onsen”

View from onsen really nice over the water. Staff were so friendly (beyond usual friendly), I had the half board and it was great quality and plentiful. View from room really nice. Huge room. Opening windows. Everything was very well organised (people to guide you to a parking spot, dining, etc)

Breakfast and Dinner was included in the price and both meals were excellent. Enjoyed the Onsen and the view from the hotel. Some nice walking trails easily accessible from the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful during our stay and shuttle buses are available to and from Hagi.

Nice hotel on a hill outside the centre. The staff were very helpful, the food was amazing and the view was spectacular. You can walk to the mountain. The centre of Hagi is worth a visit.

Beautiful hotel and facilities. Staff very kind and helpful despite our lack of Japanese. Special thanks to the young man on reception who filled out my luggage forwarding form, it was greatly appreciated.

“Two nights in Hagi”

We loved EVERYTHING about this hotel. The staff are lovely, the meals are wonderful, the onsen is just amazing with its sensational views. The room facilities may be a little dated but they in no way detract from the stay. It's a fabulous place to stay in Hagi. They even put a "woman" sign (just for me) at the entrance to the onsen as I was the only non-Japanese female staying so I would know which entrance to use.

“Wonderful food, in a peaceful coastal setting”

The food is spectacular! Dinner is the traditional multi-course Japanese style cuisine. All fresh ingredients and wonderfully presented. It included Fugu when I stayed, so if you are not comfortable eating that or have allergies inform the hotel as early before your stay as you can so they make substitutions. The location of the hotel itself is a little outside town but there is a free shuttle bus service. The location is on a hill overlooking the bay with a great sunrise. I counted at least four sea eagles from my room circling over the bay. There are staff who speak good English so commination isn't a problem.

“An ideal place to relax after a busy day seeing the sights in Hagi.”

Less than 15 minutes by car from central Hagi, in a hilltop location overlooking the beautiful Sea of Japan coast. Staff are very helpful and ready to share their local knowledge to make your stay in and around Hagi rewarding and enjoyable. The hotel and its guest rooms are perhaps old enough to be euphemistically called "retro," but overall the facilities are well looked after and the location and warm welcome more than compensate for any minor aging-related issues.
