Overview
This Viking-themed hotel is located at the harbour in the seaside town of Hafnarfjordur. Humpback whales can sometimes be spotted in the harbour during winter. Parking, WiFi and access to a sauna and hot tub are all free. Décor and furnishings in Hotel Viking’s guest rooms are inspired from Iceland’s history and culture. Satellite TV and a coffee/tea maker are found in each room. Some also offer sea and harbour views. Traditional, regional cuisine is served in the cosy Valhalla Restaurant. An old-fashioned Viking feast can be enjoyed in Viking Restaurant. Hotel Viking also offers a cold, Icelandic breakfast. The Keflavik International Airport shuttle bus stops directly in front of Viking Hotel. Reykjavik’s city centre, 10 km away, can be reached in less than 15 minutes by bus.

“Quirky decor, but pretty fun. Small rooms.”
Great food at the restaurant, but expensive, per Iceland pricing. Restaurant had lovely little nooks to sit in upstairs to enjoy a quiet drink. Breakfast was quite good. Nice sauna and hot tub in a natural setting.

“A great stay”
The location is great, close to the airport. It’s my second time coming here and I would recommend it especially on the first night in Iceland after landing it’s a great place to stay, have a dinner at the restaurant, and a great buffet breakfast in the morning. The place itself has a beautiful design that feels like a museum about vikings.

“A puzzling hotel - Looks good but uncomfortable otherwise”
The location is great if you want to stay out of Reykjavik and on way to the KEF. The owner(s) has spent enormous resources in decorating this hotel and it's attached restaurant. Every corner is Instragram worthy with an amazing range of Viking oriented paraphernalia. The hotel was across a waterfront and had several restaurants nearby. The breakfast was spartan with only cold choices but could do for some.

“Tired”
Staff were really nice and did what they could to welcome us. Attached restaurant was really good. Decor is fascinating, the Viking theme rocks. There is an outside hot tub and sauna.

Really lovely and helpful staff. Basic room but very clean and a nice location. The breakfast was decent, great options including waffles. The bar was really nice with great drinks and waitresses.

“Excellent”
Excellent theming and excellent food. The staff were all very helpful. I have stayed closer to Reykjavik but with the easg transport options, will consider going back to Viking Hotel first.
