“Great value, friendly owners, and perfectly practical for skiing”

If you arrive expecting luxury, you may be disappointed — but if you’re looking for clean, warm, practical accommodation at a very reasonable price, this place does exactly what it promises. My room was simple but very comfortable: spotless, warm, with a good shower and plenty of hot water. There’s also a decent-sized fridge, which is really useful for keeping a few essentials. The location works well for skiing too — it’s right on the main bus route and just one stop up to the main resort area, which makes getting around very easy. Yes, there’s a bar attached so it may be a little lively during peak season, and the towels are on the small side (which honestly seems fairly typical in Japan), but you can request extras if needed. What really makes the place stand out is the kindness of the owners. They were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout my stay and even arranged for my luggage to be sent on after I left, which I greatly appreciated. And a final note: the burgers in the bar are excellent — definitely worth trying after a day on the slopes. Overall, a very solid and welcoming base for skiing in Appi.

Location in relation to Appi kogen ski field. Near shuttle bus that runs 1/2hrly(7min to ski resort). Bar/burger bar in house. Good tap beers. Easy to get to via Shinkansen to Morioka (2hrs) then bus (1hr). Be prepared Appi is a quiet place. 19brew good bar and ollies nearby. I travelled alone. Staff were friendly and were engaging even when off site. Btw. Lawson a handy short shuttle ride. If you’re quick you be on a return shuttle in 7min but the next in 1/2hr.

Nat and the staff were friendly and really helpful. We stayed in the quad share Japanese Tatami room and it was clean, comfortable and enough room for the 4 of us. The futons were comfortable to sleep on. It had a beautiful view out the window of the trees and snow. The shared bathroom was very clean and functional. The location is great being only a few minutes drive to Appi Kogen ski resort and the onsen. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to others!

The toilets broke shortly after arrival. Washing facilities would be really helpful given the accommodation is a drive away from everything.

There are plenty of spaces for parking in front of the guesthouse. The burger and beer was good at the restaurant. My room rate didn't include breakfast. Not sure if they have.
