Excellent location, just oustide the NP. The owner is a superb guide who's passionate about his work, patient and tries his best to show his guests all the animals. Humble family. The food served is very tasty and abundant. We enjoyed our stay here

The staff is very very nice and the place is really close to Wilpattu entrance. The food was amazing ! I highly recommend!

“Very kind hosts and rooms with all you need”

The hosts were very helpful, caring, and kind people. The rooms are simple and have everything you need. Having a kettle and some coffee in the room was great. The WiFi connection was also very good, the surroundings green and calm. The dinner meals were big and tasty, the breakfast as well. We really enjoyed our stay and a visit to the Wilpattu National Park.

“Perfect location”

Location was perfect, right at the gates of the park. Room was basic but very functional. Loved the location tucked away down a little path so you really feel like you're in the forest. They organised a safari for us which was great and the food was delicious too. Note they provide a small bottle of pepsi and water with dinner but no other drinks available and it's far from restaurants or shops so better to go prepared.

“The perfect hideaway in the jungle.”

If you like to stay close to nature, you could not find a better place. Breakfast and dinner was served just outside the room and with the jungle just outside, like a dream. The family running this place are the friendliest people you could imagine. We went on a night safari outside the park and a full day safari inside the park. Both are were great and we saw a lot of different animals, including two leopards. I would definitly stay here again if I come back to Wilpattu.

“Just brilliant.”

Absolutely brilliant stay. The people are so very friendly and so lovely with my children. De room itself is clean and had plenty of space for the four of us. The bathroom was proper and has a good shower. The food was also great and abundant. We saw plenty animals just walking around the premises and the lake (Crocodiles, deer, monkeys, birds). The safari with Nisal was really the cherry on top. We got to see three different leopards, two elephants and many, many other animals. Nisal was also respectful of the animals which is important to me. We were so incredibly happy with our stay here, I would recommend it to anyone.

“Fabulous location for Wilpattu Safari Park”

This was a lovely place right next to the entrance to Wilpattu Safari Park. The owner was friendly and helpful. We stayed for two nights and ate an evening meal both nights, the food was very tasty and the portions were huge. The rooms were basic but had everything you needed. We organised a full day safari (at extra reasonable cost) via the accommodation and I would highly recommend this. We had a great day out with all food and drinks provided included in the price. We saw two leopards, elephants, jackals, crocodiles, mongoose and many birds.

Wilpattu Mookalan Resort was the perfect base for our adventures in Wilpattu National Park. Our hosts were so kind and hospitable, providing incredible dinners the two nights we stayed, breakfast and a packed lunch for our safari. We did the full day Safari organised through the resort and were guided by the owner’s son Nisal who was very knowledgeable about the park’s wildlife and dedicated to helping us see as much as possible. Highlight of the Safari was seeing a Sloth Bear! The resort is right at the entrance of the national park so we did not need to wake up too early for the safari. You can also walk from the resort to the lake which is lovely in the afternoon. We would highly recommend the resort for anyone headed to Wilpattu.

“A beautiful stay”

The location was amazing right next to the national park, we walked along the lake and saw an elephant, deer and crocodiles! We watched sunset here both nights, it was beautiful. Father & son are both so friendly and helpful. The food we ate here is some of the best food we have eaten in Sri Lanka so far, such generous portions. The beds are comfy, AC is good and shower warm! Mosquito nets are also great

Nestled in a strip of forest by the lake, it was alive with birds. Room provided everything you needed for a comfortable night. Good dinner and breakfast.

“If you are wildlife lover, you couldn't ask for a better place.”

This place is just a three minute walk from Wilpattu and there is a lovely path that runs along the lagoon on the other side of the park, so you can often see elephants and deer etc. without even entering the park (although you should definitely do that too!). It's also a wonderful spot for birdwatching. And after a day of all that, you get a wonderful meal and a comfortable bed. There was also hot water, which I would have appreciated more if I'd known then what a rarity that is in Sri Lanka. :) The host is also a guide and clearly knows the park inside out. We even saw two of the elusive leopards.

Comfy room, amazing food and perfect, quiet location right next to the park entrance. You can take really nice walks along the lake and beyond where you can already spot a lot of birds and other animals. Dinner on the terrace was 2000 LKR per person and super delicious. Water was provided. We got breakfast packed for our half-day safari (sandwich, egg, yoghurt, banana, water). And the hosts were lovely of course!

The hosts are soooo kind. They maked sure everything was ok. It is close to the park, so when you want to visit it, you don’t need to get up too early. Great breakfast and fine dinner!
