We stayed at Hotel Oleena for two nights during our safari trip, and it truly felt like home. The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their food was simple yet exceptionally delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. We especially loved their generous servings of coffee! 😊 They also know the area extremely well and gave us excellent recommendations on the best places to visit and activities to do around Habarana. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

Our stay was amazing in every aspect!

Beautiful room, good shower, great balcony und amazing working AC. Super nice hosts which take you everywhere if they have time for pickme prices. WiFi didnt work but its not their Fault since the connection tower Broke. I even got a water kettle after asking to make myself a Coffee.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Oleena. Our hosts, Jeewa, Masha and Oleena, were the loveliest, kindest and most caring people you could ever wish to meet. Our room was peaceful, spotlessly clean and comfortable with a big balcony where we loved to sit and listen to the birds. Our breakfast each day was very tasty with a good selection and our evening meal, freshly cooked by Masha to our taste (spicy!), was delicious. We loved our trips with Jeewa in his tuk tuk (Dambulla Cave Temple, the Golden Temple, Pidurangala and Ritigala) and he also organised a fantastic elephant safari and wonderful local massage for us (all at a reasonable price). We will definitely return!

“Superb homestay experience”

What sets this homestay apart from many others are the hosts. Jeewa went out of his way to ensure we made the most of our time, He took us to Pidurangala and Ritigala in his tuk-tuk, pointing out places of interest on the way. We also visited a spice garden with him, all for a very reasonable price. His wife, Masha, prepared some delicious meals, which we ate outside (no mosquitoes!) It was a wonderful introduction to Sri Lanka.

I had a great stay here. Owners Jeewa and Masha are very nice and helpful. Provided all information what to visit around and organized trips I wanted. If it wasn’t fully booked, would stay for 3 nights instead of 2 - Habarana is great location close to Sigiriya, Minneriya national park, Polonnaruwa. There are a lot Ayurvedic gardens and treatment possibilities in the area. But it’s impossible to visit everything in two nights.

I honestly don’t even know how to describe this experience because it was simply amazing. First about the room: it was very spacious and very clean. The bathroom was clean, there was toilet paper, and the towels smelled fresh. The beds had mosquito nets, which is very helpful because there are quite a few mosquitoes in this area due to the humidity. We received a fan and honestly didn’t need air conditioning. It’s nice to open the windows in the morning and evening and let fresh air in. One thing to mention is the humidity – but this is normal for this region and something nobody can control, especially if it has rained before. Just expect a bit of moisture in the air. 😊 The house is located in a very peaceful area. In the morning, you wake up to birds singing, which was beautiful. Breakfast was excellent every day – fresh fruit, one day a more Western-style breakfast, another day a delicious curry (not spicy for us), and amazing coconut pancakes. But what made this stay truly special was the hospitality and all the experiences Jeewa organized for us. From the very beginning, he arranged transport from the airport to the hotel, which made our arrival very easy. Even though we were tired from the flight, he took us the same day to Pidurangala to see Sigiriya. The next day we went by tuk-tuk to Polonnaruwa and on the way we already saw a wild elephant – what an experience! Later that same day we went on a safari organized by him, and I highly recommend it. There were very few jeeps (maximum 5), so it felt calm and respectful to nature. If you really appreciate animals and nature, this is the best option. We saw many elephants, even a one-month-old baby elephant running after its mother. It was unforgettable. We had time to stop, take photos, and just quietly observe the animals. It was worth every cent. After a long day, Masha prepared a delicious dinner for us. If you don’t like very spicy food, this is a perfect choice – full of flavor but not too spicy.

The host was amazing. He did everything to ensure our stay was perfect including sightseeing tour, arranging transport to and from Habarana and lovely home cooked meals prepared by his wife. Jeewa was not pushy with any of these additions but offered everything at an extremely reasonable price and was very transparent with his recommendations. The food was lovely, the room was very clean and comfortable and the area is very green, beautiful and quiet yet close to major attractions like Sigiriya and Dambulla. The hotel is located in a lovely community and it is a beautiful area to walk around and explore by foot.

If you are searching something calm, out of the Main Street but short distance 10-15 to Main Street with all what you need is perfect. The room was huge and clean, the garden and place generally was nice and what makes it special was Jews and his wife - really nice and kind people, talkative, recommending and helping with everything. His wife made for us every evening dinner and morning we had breakfast- we asked for local food and she made every day different and always so tasty !!

The host Jeewa and his family were awesome. So welcoming and helpful. He even helped us to arrange a safari and personal drivers to explore the area. The Sri Lankan breakfast was a huge bonus - so delicios! We had really beatiful time there 🌺

A very kind and welcoming host family with a beautiful garden. The host was extremely helpful in every way, and we had many lovely conversations with him on the terrace. He showed us places and foods that are truly worth trying. The calm, family-like atmosphere greatly added to our experience. We would happily return anytime and will always remember this accommodation for the perfect hospitality and the wonderful people.

Amazing family. They really look after their guests, and even showed us around the area and invited us to a local concert with them which was such a fun experience! We will definitely be back!

The owner was very respectful and helpful. We booked a room with 2 beds 30minutes before showing up at around 5pm. He even organised our safari tour.

Everything. Oleena and Masha made our stay so much fun. They were so welcoming and nothing was ever too much bother. We were really made to feel like friends opposed to guests, it was fantastic.
