The hosts were wonderful, so kind and helpful, they really made us feel welcome. Breakfast was delicious and it was lovely getting to eat with a beautiful view of the lake. Great value for money and good location. Would definitely recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed!

The host was very welcoming, helping me arrange a safari in hurulu eco park. The room is clean and facilities are functional. The accommodation is located at lakeside. You can have breakfast while admiring the view.

The property owner and family were exceptional and went above and beyond to provide a holistic experience of the stay and tour around.

The location of this property is absolutely stunning... You can hear flocks and flocks of birds calling on the lake as the sun begins to rise. The family of this homestay was incredibly accomodating, setting us up with everything we needed. Fantastic and filling breakfast/dinner. Organised safari guides for us and was also available to transport us via Tuktuk to close locations. Simply incredible, and the neighbourhood this property is located in is totally worth exploring - lots of different birds and animals to run into. If I have the opportunity, I will come back to stay one day.

“Lovely family run accommodation with views”

Delightful location for a smaller family run property on the outskirts of Habarana. Absolutely wonderful peaceful outlook over a water lily lagoon with beautiful water birds. Really friendly and helpful hosts who organised breakfast each day in an elevated platform overlooking the lagoon. Comfortable bedroom with mosquito nets (though I didn't encounter any mosquitoes), modern bathroom, nice outdoor terrace with table and chairs. Excellent base for visiting Pollonaruwa, Sigiriya, Minneriya, and the traditional dance show each evening in the local cultural centre is much better than the very crowded commercial ones at Kandy.

Lake Wind is an incredibly special Guesthouse. Surrounded by a lake and a thousand birds, it is tranquil, peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Breakfast at the top of a tree house is magical, beautiful food lovingly prepared. Cold drinks on arrival to quench your thirst. But most importantly, the beautiful hosts Gamini and Jeevani are very precious people with very kind hearts. You are made incredibly welcome, they spoil you with their wonderful hospitality and kindness. So close to all the beautiful National Parks and safaris. Thank you so so much. Paula & John🌸

The location, the staff, the price. Everything was great! You also enjoy a nice breakfast with a view and the tree house is also perfect to watch the sunset (or sunrise)

“Impossible to sum up - go for yourself.”

One of the most beautiful, serene and incredibly stunning places we stayed. Lovely, friendly and kind hosts who can’t do enough to help. I can’t describe how picturesque the place is - you have to see for yourself. It is the only place I have stayed and spent the next day deciding how I can make something this beautiful at home. We mostly stayed in high end and well reviewed accommodation which met our expectations during our three week stay in Sri Lanka, but nothing touched us in the way this place did. Truly beautiful and very special place with wonderful souls as hosts.

“Superb! A secluded Sri Lankan gem!”

This lake-side retreat was a complete delight. Our hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful. The view from the viewing platform over the water was beautiful and the bird life a joy to watch, The home-made dinners and breakfasts were delicious. We have stayed in many homestays and cannot rate this particular homestay too highly. Superb!

“One of the best stays in Sri Lanka”

This is one of the best places we stayed in! My partner and I stayed here for four nights, and we felt totally pampered :)) Apart from the amazing room and views, what we absolutely loved were the delicious home-cooked fresh meals and the hospitality of the hosts! He also drove us to Sigiriya, Polonnuwara, and Dambulla for a great price! And later, packed us a little snack for free while leaving. We are definitely coming back here and is a must-stay for anyone travelling through Sri Lanka!

“Good value and lovely setting”

This homestay has a wonderful natural setting in a lush garden on the edge of a lake, about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Habarana. It is peaceful, though there is some low noise from the distant highway and, during my stay, the occasional throb of music from a neighbour. The 3 rooms are clean and comfortable, with both aircon and fans. Good local meals are available. The helpful manager can arrange excursions. Good value for money.

Everything! Probably our favourite stay in Sri Lanka. Fabulous breakfasts and the staff could not have been more helpful. Stunning location ...beautiful sunsets over the lake.

“Beautiful and comfy place in the middle of nature!”

What a place, what a view! The lovely owners welcome you in their beautiful homestay and urge you to sit down and relax, and it’s hard not to. From the cute cosy room and the patio in front of it you’re in the middle of nature. From your lazy chair you can watch eagles, ibisses, kingsishers and all other kind of wildlife. The food is tasty too, and there is a hot shower. You’ll feel at home right away!

“Paradise”

The hosts are the nicest people you could meet. They cannot do enough for you. Our bill for 4 nights came to £33 per night. That included a huge breakfast and dinner including dessert each night, fruit juices, a lot of laundry, a whole day tour of Polonnaruwa, trips to Dambulla and Pidurangala Rock (at 4.45am and our host waited for us to come back down). All of the food we had was gorgeous. The room we had was spotless, only built 3 years ago, the shower was good and we had a 6ft very comfortable bed. We also had a lovely deck to sit on with very comfy chairs. The aircon was modern and quiet but we found that we didn’t need to use it. It was cool at night. The setting on the lake is simply stunning. The 3 storey wooden building over the water is perfect for watching a huge variety of birds. My husband has recorded over 30 different birds. We had dinner and breakfast sitting on the deck over the water. Our lovely host drove us to our next homestay in Anuradhapura for the PickMe price and bought us some guava on the way. We left Lake Winds with lovely memories and feeling sad that we couldn’t stay longer. It is paradise. Don’t hesitate to book.
