A beautiful, homely stay in a great location. Amazing host who provided a superb breakfast for a great start to the day! The room was super comfortable, loved this place and was sad to leave after only 2 nights.

We stayed in this wonderful hanok for two nights. The location is very convenient: you can walk to several points of interest, and the neighborhood is very nice, full of cafes and restaurants. Being on a side alley, the hanok is very quiet, and we slept very well. The property is beautiful and meticulously maintained. The room was spacious and equipped with everything you need, and it also opened directly onto the garden. Guests can relax in the lounge room, where breakfast is also served, which I loved, especially the fresh fruit and mushroom soup! The owner is very kind and welcoming, and was very helpful, storing our luggage temporarily while we waited for check-in and helping us booking taxis. We really enjoyed our stay!

Everything was amazing, we stayed for the weekend and just loved our stay. The location, the rooms, the nice breakfast with the amazing mushroom soup 😍 felt like home away from home. Very cozy and functional. Exceptional location.

We had a truly wonderful two-night stay at this traditional South Korean guesthouse located right in the heart of the old town of Gyeongju. The entire area is quite touristy, which actually worked in our favor as it made it very easy to find our way around, with countless restaurants and shops just steps away. The staff member who welcomed us was incredibly warm and friendly. Since there is no classic reception, we had to indicate our arrival time in advance, but everything went smoothly. The place itself is very small and charming, with only three rooms in total. Our room was furnished in a fully traditional style, with a mattress on the heated floor — and the floor heating was absolutely fantastic, especially since it was –10°C outside during our stay. The bathroom was also very nice: a typical Korean wet room, extremely clean and offering plenty of space in the shower. Every morning, a light breakfast was served. In our case, it included a traditional mushroom cream soup, bread with a bit of butter and jam, fresh fruit, as well as coffee, tea, orange juice, and optional muesli. It’s a simple, lighter breakfast—no cheese or large buffet—but since we normally don’t eat much in the morning, it was more than enough for us. All in all, this guesthouse offers a cozy, authentic experience, perfect warmth in winter thanks to the floor heating, and a very welcoming atmosphere. We would happily stay here again.

Traditional house; Location (in the heart of the “old” city, next to restaurants and cafes); comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with good lighting and heated floor; common living room and kitchen used for breakfast); healthy breakfast (fruits, bread, avocado); very responsive and helpful host (she suggested activities to do on New Year’s Eve and restaurants for dinner; she calls a taxi for us on the day we left)

“Great location, cozy and charming hanok”

We had such a wonderful stay! It was comfortable, especially when it was so cold outside. The place looks like the pictures. Very quaint and charming. The staff were friendly and it was nice to be greeted by a simple breakfast of fruit and bread in the morning. It felt like a home! Hyuhyudang is also located near a popular walking street, and two very good restaurants - Seasoning, for pasta with a twist, and also Elephant Fridge, for a modern twist on Korean cuisine. It was a great stay, thank you!
