This place is very quiet and peaceful, perfect if you want to rest and get away from everything. Staff are kind and the owner David is wonderful — you can feel he really cares about the place and the guests. The best part of my stay was joining a local mobile vet on visits to nearby homes to help dogs in need, which was a truly special experience. I had a great time and will definitely come back.

Exceptional environment, well-kept, among the trees, calm, peaceful. The cottages are built in such a way that they have a pleasant temperature without air conditioning or fans. At night, for the first time in Gambia, I had to cover myself with a duvet. The owner and staff were extremely kind, accommodating, unobtrusive.

The 3 day stay at the lodge was the start of our holiday in The Gambia and we felt safe, extremely well looked after and absolutely loved the evening meals together. The hosts, David and Linda, made us feel at home immediately - they do a perfect job of combining a socially fair environment for their staff with excellent service for their guests. We especially appreciate this concept. The food was delicious, the beds very comfortable, the staff very helpful and friendly in a very authentic way. We enjoyed footsteps. it wasn’t the normal accommodation, that we go to. However, David and his staff were splendid 100% friendly. The property offered more than expected. It gave you a cultural aspect regarding Gunjur. we learnt a lot about the natural environments, ecology and cultural history of Gunjur. We made some great people and had great conversation throughout the night. I will recommend and stay here again.

A wonderful location outside the tourist areas of the Gambia. The lodge is very comfortable and the hosts are exceptional. It was like being a house guest in their own bird reserve. I went for the birding and was not not disappointed with the location - the woods and the lagoon offered an amazing variety of habitats. The food was very authentic and done to a very high standard. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

I Love waking waking up in this serene environment with a huge variety of birds singing songs. Footsteps is very well managed and maintained, the staff is super friendly, well trained and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean and the bed is comfortable. The environment is stunning and the lush gardens are extensive featuring a bird hide and a yogashala with yoga mats provided. The organic gardens provide fresh produce, and the kitchen serves both delicious local dishes and a high standard of international dishes, all presented lovingly with a big smile which nurtures a feeling of being completely taken care off. I have been coming to the Gambia for 13 years staying in various accommodations. While some are good when they first open, many fall apart quickly due to poor management. Not so at footsteps. Footsteps has provided me with consistently fabulous holidays over many years. A big thank you to the entire team.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming. They really looked after us well. During our stay we became avid bird watchers, how could you not? Lots of wildlife and some lively trees.

Great area, beautiful surroundings, nice and quiet and very friendly people ... great for 'locals' from Banjul going for a long/or short week-end. Never heard of the place and found it by coincidence.. should be more known to us locals

Beautiful setting, very clean, good food, David and his staff were very friendly. Many activities eg chess, pingpong, crafts, yoga, birdwatching, botanical garden. Beach is within walking distance.
