Overview
Situated in western Norway’s Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this waterfront hotel offers easy access to ferry boat fjord tours. Some rooms have skylights with views up to Kjelsfossen Waterfall. Gudvangen Fjordtell guests can choose between a hotel room or apartment accommodation with kitchen facilities. All feature a work desk and some offer Viking-themed rooms. Guests dining in Gudvangen Fjordtell’s on-site restaurant can enjoy fjord views from huge glass windows. The menu has Norwegian cuisine based on organic, locally sourced ingredients. The large terrace can also be enjoyed during warm weather. Staff can recommend area activities, such as fishing and hiking. Ferry tours through the fjord begin within a minute's walk of the property.

We choose to stay in Gudvangen rather than Flam. Not as busy as Flam. Good view of fjord. Rustic atmosphere and rooms appear to have been recently refurbished. Staff was friendly and helped where they could. However

“Stunning location, excellent rooms. 10/10”
I thought we had booked an apartment but I think we ended up with a Viking Room. I'm not sure if the mistake was by me, the hotel, or Booking.com. Regardless, the Viking Room was stunning. The viking-themed decor was fun without overdoing it, and the facilities were all great, including 2 good lounge chairs, and coffee/tea facilities. The windows and skylights allowed us to take in some of Gudvangen's stunning scenery from our room. We visited in early May and night light through the skylight didn't bother us, though we had eye masks (can't remember if we used them). Breakfast was good too. Now, not about the hotel itself, but Gudvangen itself is stunning. And in the evening and early morning, when most of the other travellers have gone on to another destination, the quietness was beautiful. If you're going that way, I strongly recommend an overnight stay in Gudvangen.

It’s a quirky hotel and beds were comfy but the sky light really didn’t bode well for sleeping! I get the reason for the sky lights but there really should be a blind option. Breakfast was nice but to access some of the food you needed to navigate other people in a narrow corridor. The outside wasn’t well kept and garden near rooms was tired and full of weeds. I think very over priced for what we got.

Excellent location, great room and very complete (and tasty) breakfast. Very close to Rimstigen trailhead, unique sauna options nearby and the dock for all ferries right in front of the hotel. Also great café/restaurant next door.

“Comfortable 'Viking' themed accommodation at Gudvangen”
Easy check-in and friendly staff. Room is a little funky with a 'Viking' theme which reflects Gudvangen's history. Breakfast excellent with all usual hot & cold choices available including a waffle maker. Plus a very good restaurant. Recommended.

“Highly recommend this place as a relaxing getaway or to do nature activities.”
Breakfast was good with lots of options and a coffee machine for espresso. The room was decorated nicely in viking decor. The view was amazing. There was a window in roof so you could see the mountains from the room. A Joker convenient store is nearby for snacks and drinks as well as fresh produce. Plenty of options for food as well. We enjoyed the VIKING EXPERIENCE. There were hiking trails, fjord cruises, kayaking, and a sauna.

“Awesome for a day trip to Gudvangen.9”
Cozy cabin, yummy breakfast selection and perfect location for the Viking Valley and the bus stop was literally a minute walk away. Great morning run route along from entrance to Bakka alongside the fjord.

“I can just recommend as an accomodation”
The location of the hotel is perfect for a boat trip in the fjords. Next to the hotel is the port and starts the fjord. The public transportation (shuttlebus) between Gudvangen and Flam is very well organized. The breakfast was excellent as the quality as the range of foods. The room as it as on the photoes.

“Could not pick a better place that balances beauty and comfort”
Room was beautiful, located next to the Fjord with views of the mountain. It was bliss returning to our warm and comfortable room from the cold of the night. We feel really blessed and pampered to have such a beautiful place in the wilderness. To top it off, we loved looking at the stars through the enormous skylights from our luxurious bed! Would definitely stay here again... Finally, we really enjoyed the breakfast in the picturesque breakfast room 🤩
