“You would be mad not to book this place.”

Location was great, tranquility was superb, amazing view from a very private pool. Well equipped house with 2 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, plenty of fresh towels & bed linen. Washing machine, dishwasher & lovely big fridge. Host was amazing, incredibly helpful. Sebastian brought us fresh melon, mangoes, aubergines, courgettes most days from the family farm accompanied by his awesome Andalusian terriers. Supermarkets close by in the town of Coín (mercadona does the most amazing pre-cooked food to take back and eat by the pool). BBQ was great & charcoal can be purchased in the supermarkets. A hire car is a must, but I must admit ours sat outside the house un-used quite a bit as we just had no reason to leave this amazing place 😎

“Gem of Guaro”

We stayed in El Palomar in mid May, and had nothing but a fantastic experience in the old farmhouse. Upon arrival we were met at the local petrol station, which is opposite the track leading to the accommodation. Sebastian, the host, led us to where we would be staying, and gave us a well-informed tour of the building and surrounding areas. The farmhouse was beautifully restored to a historically correct Spanish dwelling, and it was spotlessly clean on arrival. Sebastian does not speak a lot of English but communicated very well using google translate on his phone, so the language barrier was not a problem. The accommodation has everything you need for a self-catering week or two away from the hustle and bustle of city life. El Palomar is situated roughly half a mile away from the main road, up the track into the hills above Guaro. The track is steep and rough in places. A rental car is a must in our mind, as the walk to Guaro would easily take over an hour on the mountain roads. This is not a downside as the remoteness creates a stunning tranquil atmosphere that is hard to put a price on. A short 30 second walk from the front door, takes you to your own private plateau with pool and lounge beds. The pool area provides stunning views over Andalusia and surrounding countryside. It is perfectly situated to trap the sun all day, from 7am to 8.30pm. The pool is unheated, but clean and a nice retreat from the Spanish sun, a perfect way to cool down after soaking in the rays for the afternoon. There is a range of supermarkets in the near village of Coin, it is approximately 15 minutes drive from the front door. There are Aldi, Lidl and Mercadona supermarkets within 500m of each other. I’d recommend buying some coals for the BBQ here, as there is none at the accommodation, however an evening BBQ in the outdoor cooking area in front of the house, was our favourite evening activity!
