Basic accomodation but it was what we were expecting. Coffee/tea was available in the main hotel but it would have been nice to have available in the room to save a drive. Lovely location.

There was nobody there to welcome you in the reception office You had to call a telephone number in order to get information about your room number and door code. And when you called an automatic answering machine advised you to send an email or leave a message. Only after several attempts you were lucky to get someone on the phone. They were very friendly at least. Same procedure with payment ... quite frustrating and nerve wrecking.

“Our stay was pleasant”
This is my second stay at the property. The location is close to the center of town yet feels like it's in the mountains. The breakfast choices are plentiful and delicious, and the rooms are clean. We enjoyed sitting around the fire that is lit at night and meeting other visitors. I definitely recommend this hotel.

“Peaceful location and easy check in.”
Perfect for a stop off or travelling through the check in was so easy and straightforward Room had everything you needed. Didn’t meet any staff but that’s ok. The area is very peaceful.

“Disappointing to say the least”
After check in, which was touchless all communication ceased from the host. I reached out several times to request a different room because my room smelled like a wet dog, I sent several messages which were completely ignored requesting a different room, I even went to the sister hotel (red Lion inn) to talk to an actual person (Because nobody was in the office at the Briarclift the whole time I was there) but they could not accomodate me either, they only told me that all the rooms have rugs and all the rooms allow dogs, if you would love a room that smells like a wet dog, stay at the Briarcliff, even after opening the windows for three hours and coming back it still was very dog smelly. I did however enjoy the pool area at the red lion Inn very much.

“Most enjoyable; highly recommended for a brief stay in Berkshires: convenient to everything!”
Good breakfast--a huge variety of milks. Charming and whimsical decor throughout based on mid-century modern (ie. marimekko comforters and vintage-style refrigerator and microwave.). Dog-Friendly: doormats with dog themes. Very attractive and clever transformation of this motel which we remember from 60 years ago. Enjoyed talking with manager.

“Great stopover in a beautiful location”
This is an older motel that was refurbished while retaining its original charm. Our room (#9) was basic but spotless with a very comfortable bed. The continental breakfast had lots of variety and good coffee. For those seeking other options, there are several restaurants within a short drive. I'd also like to mention that due to an unexpected family situation at home, we were almost forced to cancel our stay. We were able to sort things out and keep our reservation but I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Rhonda (innkeeper) for her prompt responses and assistance with late check-in instructions. We'd recommend the Briarcliffe and will be back!
