We had a great stay at this very hospitable and immaculately kept historic guesthouse. We had a two-night stay and all member of our family, including three teenagers, felt very much at home. Location is excellent for touring the wondeful Hardangerfjord area. All food from breakfast to dinner is homemade and plenty, using the best local ingredients and prepared by a talented chef. We highly recommend the dinner, it was the best food and overall dining experience in a 10 day tour around Norway, and we really appreciated the stories and little surprises offered by the charming hostess.

Visiting a historical inn (since 1674) is something not very common in Norway and this is a good stop if you wish talk to people, taste the flavour of old times and the house excellent cuisine. The buffet breakfast features excellent home-made products. The location is quiet and a bit aside, 30 mins driving to get to amazing waterfalls like Voeringfossen and a nice and tough walk along the river Kinso with its several waterfalls.

I did not actually stay here as on the day of my arrival, after a long and rainy motorcycle ride, I discovered my room was cancelled due to a plumbing issue. While I appreciate the hotel owner's efforts to find an alternative room, offer a free dinner, and help with my luggage, I was frustrated by the method of communication. A text message, which I didn't see while riding, is not a reliable way to communicate such a significant change. A phone call, even if it had gone to voicemail, would have given me a heads-up and made a huge difference to my day. Overall, it was a frustrating situation, but I want to acknowledge the owner's efforts to make it right. I hope they will consider a more direct form of communication in the future to avoid similar experiences for other guests.

Recommend to anyone who is into adventure tourism.

Set in a beautiful area with an amazing history behind it! They told us a story each night at dinner giving us more information on the property. Stunning walks and waterfalls in walking and driving distance.

Very friendly hotel owners

Mother and daughter and the student chefs are making this stay so wonderfull. The diner was made with local ingrediënts. The story behind this hotel was told by the daughter on such a nice way. So friendly, so open, so welcoming. The breakfast was a gem, with pancackes, local marmelade, eggs, etc… worth to stay here again.

The staff was amazing. They put on an evening meal which is extra but definitely worth it. The food was excellent and was served by the owners daughter. During the meal she told us all stories about the history of the hotel and about the professional chefs that work there. She even gave us a tour of the hotel. This is a small, old hotel but is very nice. The room was large and had modern facilities in the bathroom and the bed was comfortable. There is no elevator so we had to negotiate the old creaky stairs but in this case it added to the charm of the place.
