Overview
Located outside of Grahamstown on a private game reserve, The Ranch House at African Safari Lodge is a self-catering lodge-style home, perched 10 meters above the water on the Settlers dam with stunning river views. Crown River has a spacious, furnished viewing deck and comes with a double volume lounge, dining area and bar. There is a fully-equipped, self-catering kitchen with a microwave, stove and an oven and the house also comes with a fireplace and BBQ facilities. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including fishing and hiking. The Ranch House at African Safari Lodge borders the Thomas Baines Nature Reserve. Restaurants and stores are available in Grahamstown, 14 km from the property.

We enjoyed everything about our stay. We were upgraded to a Deluxe Suit at the Lodge, a real surprise. Thank you to the generous owner and manager. My friend who is a keen birder and I have been travelling around South Africa. We appreciated being able to awake in quiet surroundings and viewing birds over a leisurely breakfast. The road in is long but well worth the effort, however be warned an urban cruiser or similar vehicle is necessary. We viewed some of the wild life as we drove in, the staff were pleasant and the beds and facilities were top class. The views are stunning. I can highly recommend a stay at the African Safari Lodge.

The chalet is comfortable, spacious and clean with everything needed for a self catering stay. What made this stay exceptional for us was the incredible hospitality of our hosts. We’d arrived at the lodge on a whim at the last minute and were very ill prepared for our stay but our hosts went above and beyond to make us welcome and comfortable. Thank you so much for a memorable stay!

A wonderful place to have a relaxing weekend. Fay was very friendly and helpful. She organised for the generator to be turned on so that we could watch the rugby. The house has everything one needs and the most comfortable beds.

The setting is absolutely beautiful. You really feel far away from the city and hustle and bustle. Animals are close by and the deck with the braai area just nailed it for me!

There is nothing more wonderful than arriving at your booked destination only to find that the property EXCEEDS your expectations and that basically sums up our stay at Crown River Safari. Faye, was wonderful in communicating directions and greeted us warmly upon arrival. The huge house has all the creature comforts, making our stay an absolute pleasure. There is a variety of wildlife available and if you are looking for the sound of silence to envelope you and feel a million miles away from civilisation then this one's for you!
