Enclosed in the scenic woods of west Shimane, Ryokan Nushiya is a 250-year old traditional house established in the Edo period, placed in the middle of a 10,000 square metre private garden. Guests can enjoy local speciality meals at the on-site restaurant. Free WiFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV. Secluded area, very quiet. Loved the outdoor onsen in my room, especially on cold days, the contrast is awesome. They had 2 private indoor solo onsens that were FCFS, and a large community shared one. Kaiseki meal was great. Wish there was more beef as it was awesome.

A quiet place to find peace of mind. The open-air Onsen in the room is wonderful and nice people here gave us comfortable stay experience.

Best service we have ever had, dinner was absolutely stunning and they accommodated our request for both dinner and breakfast without meat. We loved the scenery, beautiful wooden facilities and splendid onsen baths. We spoke a little bit of Japanese, all explanations by staff were also in Japanese including at dinner, so might be more difficult if you speak no Japanese at all. Although they did have English written explanations.
