It was a very typical 100 year old cottage and to be far we knew that before we went there but we weren't prepared for just how authentic it really is. If your looking to stay in a very quiet location and can stand to go back in time this far it is definitely the place for you .

We loved all of it. Like previous stayers have stated, it's not about luxury it's about just being present in the moment. The day to day distractions of life seem to get in the way of relationships these days. If you want a break from WiFi the TV or streaming apps with the usual mind numbing activities of this culture. This is the place to go. Where you're forced to sit and talk and spend time together. It was a blessing for my husband and myself to be able to spend this time together alone. We were in Gisborne for a conference about the Family so we were missing most of the day, but theres plenty to do there, and the cottage is nicely situated in terms of location. Catherine and Carlos have done a great job.

I’m a National Trust employee, so was delighted to stay in a cottage with so much history. I really felt like I had stepped back in time. And didn’t turn the TV on once !

How picturesque and quiet it was. I liked how the cottage has been maintained within the era, whilst also having more modern features (heater, tv). The beds were extremely comfortable, there was also DVDs and board games. Lots of information and history about the local area and the cottage itself. There was kindling and firewood also available, with information about which fireplaces were not to be used. We enjoyed taking a step back in time and staying in the cottage as did our son. We had an appreciation and respect for the cottage and hope to return again if ever in the area.

Very quaint and unique cottage Felt like stepping back in time to another era. Lovely and peaceful. Best sleep in a long time. Love the moon checkout time, just fabulous.

“Just gorgeous, exactly what I wanted”

This historic house was a perfect hideaway for me and my friend arriving from overseas. I picked him at the airport at midnight and we were able to spend the next day relaxing at the property and sightseeing around Gisborne. It is a perfect touch of Australiana, even I have not seen such a quaint place as this. The photos do not do it justice, it was comfortable but also romantic and beautifully presented, with some extra useful touches, such as matches for the candle and fresh milk.

Cosy and spacious, had everything we needed, as well as some alpacas and sheep and old tractors to amuse the little one.

I loved the serenity, old fashioned furniture pictures, very quite warm lovely little cottage will stay here again
