Founded in 1860, Juhachiro is located along Nagara River and boasts indoor and outdoor natural hot spring baths. The property is a 15-minute bus ride from Gifu Train Station. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property, and free private parking is available on site. Certain units have a seating area where you can relax. Each room includes a private bathroom equipped with a bath. A flat-screen TV is featured. There is a gift shop at the property. Guests at Juhachiro can enjoy cormorant fishing during summer. Cormorant fishing watching boat tour is also available. The nearest station Gifu Station can be reached within 30 minutes from Nagoya Station, and 130 minutes from Takayama Station.

“A memorable stay filled with comfort, hospitality, and unforgettable local traditions.”
We stayed for one night and everything was perfect. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed, and the futons were exceptionally comfortable. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming throughout our stay. We joined the Ukai boat tour to watch the traditional cormorant fishing on the Nagara River, which can be booked through the ryokan. It was a fascinating experience and something we would highly recommend. Although the guide spoke only Japanese, a QR code was provided with detailed information about the Ukai in English, making it easy to follow and appreciate the experience. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of choices. The ryokan is also ideally located in Gifu's historic district, close to the castle and several interesting museums. We were very happy to have chosen this ryokan for our stay in Gifu and hope to return in the future.

“Relaxing, nice, too short.”
Amazing location right on the Nagara River. The room was spacious and very clean with a great view. The staff were all very nice, helpful, and friendly. The on-site onsen was great.

“Serene onsen experience”
Beautiful serene environment. We loved our room and the traditional Japanese beds were exceptionally comfortable. The onsen experience was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was fantastic and the staff very helpful and cheerful. The building is like a heritage, so it was a good experience especially the street has souvenir shops. Parking is free and the onsen has great variety.

Breakfast had a big variety and it was easy to get to the Comorant show. Our Room had a lovely view of the Nagara River. Onsen was big with a few pools. Free parking facilities.

“Old fashioned hotel with charm but outdated”
We loved the onsen with its beautiful pools and many amenities. It was so relaxing! The breakfast buffet with a big variety of Asian and Western options was also very good and enjoyable! The view on the river from our terrace was spectacular with the cormoran fishing boats.

Interesting old school hotel in the Japanese style with great onson. The public baths are amazing. Well worth a visit. Get a room with a bath overlooking the river if you can.

Loved the bath on the balcony, the Onsen was absolutely spectacular set in the garden. Great room with view and tea, drinks all day. Lovely breakfast. Such a good location close to cormorant fishing and Gifu Castle.

“Amazing onsen experience with wonderful staff”
I really love the service. From the moment I entered Juhachiro, the attendant insisted on taking my luggage despite it being heavy. She has properly walked through all the different parts of the room as well. The onset was amazing, both 1F and 2F.
