The owners were so so lovely and they looked after us so well! They gave us recommendations of places to eat around them as well as a lovely (and cheap!) place to eat in the morning. The whole house had such a lovely relaxing vibe and the beds were probably the most comfortable ones we stayed in on our trip to Japan! We loved seeing Lily the Shiba Inu and all the other cute pets the owners had. Definitely one of our favourite places to stay and we will be back!

“Gifu's best guesthouse”

The couple were amazing and had a lot of information about what to do in Gifu. They also offered to collect me from the train station if I arrived after 2pm. There was also an option to hire bikes to get around the city if you were to stay longer than a night. Also, thier Shiba Inu, Lily, was so cute.

A very pleasant and cozy place to stay. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful — they explained everything, showed us around, and even drove us to the station. Their Shiba Inu dog, Lily, was also happy to meet the guests and even brought us a toy as a little gift. Such a warm and memorable experience!

“The Best Guesthouse Stay: A wonderful experience”

We loved everything about Guesthouse SUAI. Every detail has been given so much consideration - it is a very welcoming space and very much like home. Hiro and Kimiko the owners, with Lily the Shiba Inu, stay in the next house attached to the guesthouse and made sure we had everything we needed and explained everything fully, including much information about the local area and how to get around which was super helpful! The guesthouse is located in a very walkable area, with nearby bus stops and local connecting train stations. It was easy to navigate to and navigate to places from (we visited Nagoya for Legoland Japan and the Maglev Train Museum). The common space looks out into the patio, which means it receives a lot of light - the mornings are blissful here. There is a table and a kotatsu, fridge, two large sinks, water dispenser, laundry, and bathroom/showers located in this area. There is also available coffee to purchase and tea. The space has been decorated with a lot of care, it is like a home. The bedrooms are very large and spacious, again with very nice light through the windows. We stayed in the upstairs traditional Japanese room - we were provided with clean towels and Hiro very kindly explained how to prepare our futons properly. All facilities and spaces are exceptionally clean and everything is very organised. The beds were so, so comfortable - I did not want to get up in the morning! Now possibly the most important part: the owners Hiro and Kimiko with Lily the Shibu Inu (there are also two cats but sadly we did not meet them as they need their sleep!). They are the most wonderful hosts, and we were so lucky to meet them. They took such good care of us, making sure that we did not forget anything (I would have forgotten my umbrella if Kimiko did not bring it in and make sure I had it!), providing us information, and they always say good morning and good night to us. We truly felt welcomed and at home.

The house was beautiful and clean, the bedding was very comfortable, the surroundings very quiet and the host were extremely kind and helpful. Bonus point for their Shiba Inu who is very cute and friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Gifu, it is one of my fondest memories from Japan.

Hosts are really nice people. They will tell you everything you need about Gifu and nearby cities. The Guesthouse's is in calm area 15 by train and 30 min by walk. They're are convenients stores and few restaurants nearby. The hosts can get you and bring you back to train station when you arrive and leave.

Lovely and helpful hosts. Very home-like hotel. Facilities are all new with fridge to store food, coffee machine, shared kitchen and washer/dryer for laundry(for small fee) Very close to supermarket.

Nice room, nice common areas, nice communal shower. Futons were quite thick and therefore comfortable.

“Cosy guesthouse in an authentic neighborhood where you'll feel right at home (plus a cute dog!)”

I knew from the moment I saw this property on booking that it was going to be a magical experience. The place is not too far from the main station (10min drives more or less) but it's definitely not in a touristy area, it's actually the most authentic neighborhood I've seen in Japan so far. And don't worry about getting there, because the owner will pick up up from the station! The house is an annex to the owners' own home, so you can feel the care they put into it and all the little details they added to make you feel at home. I had the Japanese-style room and got a fantastic night of sleep on my futon! However, even better than that, there are two highlights that made sure I'll treasure this experience forever. First, the owner gave me two maps (very precise, handmade) of the area to reach the few business close to the property (a HUGE supermarket, a 7Eleven, a sushi restaurant and a café). I went to the sushi restaurant for dinner, one of the best meals of my life (£14 for A LOT of excellent sushi and a fish soup). I also went to the café for breakfast (you can buy a voucher from the host, bring cash, it's about £3) and choose one of their menus. You'll need a translator app if you don't speak Japanese, but the ladies from the café were a joy to be around and made me a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. The second highlight was the adorable pets! If you're comfortable with it, you can meet the cats and the star of the place, Lily, the softest and sweetest Shiba I've ever met! Getting kisses from Lily made my day. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality, I will always recommend this place to other travellers!

“Feel like stay at your long distance aunty house in Gifu”

To be honest, it feel like stay at your long distance aunt's house in Gifu. Everything was clean and well organized. "Aunty" took the effort to wakes up early and bit us goodbye at 430am; really heart warming. Since she speaks mandarin so communication part no problem at all. Even though host have a cat and a dog; they are well behaved and does not cause any discomfort.
