Overview
In the centre of historic Giethoorn, De Galeriet offers a private guesthouse with free Wi-Fi. Bovenwijde Lake is 500 metres away while Meppel is 20 minutes by car. The double room is simply decorated with a painting above the bed and has a bathroom. The spacious family room has exposed wooden beams, a bathroom and seating area. There are several cafés, shops, restaurants and bike & boat rentals within a 5-minute walk from De Galeriet. Steenwijk centre is 14 minutes by car. Giethoorn is situated in the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, here you can enjoy cycling, sailing and canoe activities.

Our worst hotel experience ever. We do not recommend this place. The building is extremely old and run-down, with creaky floors and doors. The worst part was the terrible smell — a strong, sickening odor coming from the bathroom, like sewage or worse. It gave us headaches and even got into our clothes. Breakfast was equally disappointing: a few slices of ham and cheese, dry tasteless bread (clearly frozen before), and nothing fresh or appealing. There were also spiders everywhere, with visible webs in the corners — clearly not a well-maintained place. Unfortunately, this was the most unpleasant stay we’ve ever had. Avoid this hotel if you can.

Location is excellent, right in the heart of Giethoorn, very convenient. Rooms are great size and sleep 4 comfortably, comes with all amenities for your stay. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating when we arrived past checkin time. A very positive experience overall.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely apartment in the heart of Giethoorn. The location is great - situated right in the center of the village. It's ideal if you want to experience the charm of Giethoorn during the quiet hours of the evening and morning.
