The host is very friendly and helpful. There are many things available such as snowsuits, firewood, fresh towels, etc. The house is fantastic in a brilliant quiet neighbourhood.

This was one of our most unique stays in whole Norway. Loved the personal attention of Tommy and the whole Norwegian authentic house feeling! In the middle of nature next to a waterfall and river we had magical evenings. There is the grill gazebo in the garden which we used a lot for grilling meat and koselig fireplace. The house is big and everything is inside what you need. Also met Tommy and his family which was great! Highly recommended to visit here. We had 3 nights, but we had regret not to booked more days here! Thanks Tommy and maybe see each other again!

Tommy is just the most fantastic host ever. We have travelled and stayed in hosts houses worldwide and I can safely say that there is none other that we've encountered who is more genuine, friendly, caring and truly loved what he does. He shared food and stories with us and the only thing we regret is that we only spent one night at Elvestua out of our 10 days in Norway. We will definitely plan to come back to experience the Northern Lights here and more importantly, to catch up with Tommy. A host who has become a friend in less than 24 hours! “Fantastic and authentic place for people who love nature”

Tommy did his best to accommodate his guests. U could sense all lovely details in every corner of this authentic house(thank you for the Xmas deco!). We particularly enjoyed the outdoor wood-burning BBQ house, well equipped kitchen/sauna, music instruments such as piano and guitar(our kids love this!), nordic ski/snowshoes gear arrangement and plus the beautiful large-size woodburner in the house. These add extra charm during our stay. On top of that, this house is secluded in nature, surrounded by mountains/river and a lake. That was the main reason why we booked here. Every single day you just want to stay "home" to feel the nature and the absolute seclusion feeling. On the New Year's Eve, tsk to Tommy's suggestion, we celebrated the firework show together with the local folk from Finnsnes. On the new year day, we did a 3h power walk/hike through the river and woods with our snowshoes and ski. It was perfect to feel the day one of the year with this beautiful nature. Highly recommended.

Location was superb, near paths, lakes and streams. Great range of facilities including a awesome summer building with fire pit. Tommy the owner is fantastic, really nice guy who could not be more helpful. Would definitely stay again. 👍👍

“An unforgettable experience in an authentic home in the Norwegian wilderness.”

What we liked about this place ? Absolutely everything. We've stayed in 5 star rated hotels and in remote Buddhist temples. We've been to exciting places like Vancouver and Tokyo and have visited impressive landscapes like the Yellowstone or Death Valley. We have hunted the Northern Lights on Iceland and in Lappland. We have seen the Milky Way in Croatia. None of those places came close to the very authentic, calm and peaceful atmosphere of Elvestua. Coming from Finnsness you leave the paved road (No 861) and drive another 10km over a dirt road into the Norwegian wilderness. The next "neighbour" is about 400m away. There is a little "power station" close by, but that does not disturb in any way. The only sound one can hear is the sound of nature (river and small waterfall very close by the house). The house is old and authentic. It has character and all you need to spend a relaxed time. Even the wireless connection was good enough to manage a 3 hours Zoom session with no downtime. Enjoy a day in the snow, use the Sauna, light up a fire in the barbeque cottage, have a nice dinner, go out and see the Aurora right over your head...what else can you expect from holiday ? We feel really blessed that we could stay some days over here. The host took the effort to come the 40 min from Finnsness to provide us the keys and was available for questions at any time in between. Tommy is a really nice guy with a lot of passion and full of emotion for this very special place and Senja Island. Senja itself is pure nature and not really too touristic. During our time (end October) most "Restaurants" "Bars" and "Cafe's" were closed during daytime or had very short opening hours (e.g. 14-18hrs). There are really not too many people around (e.g. during a 6 hour hike through Anderdalen National Park we only met 5 people). Something for people that seek peace, nature and silence.
