“A polished gem of a hotel”

Palace Arriluce hotel is a polished gem in easy reach of the gritty city of Bilbao. The welcome, room, ambience and food were superb. We found the staff to be friendly, welcoming, professional and enthusiastically helpful and made sure our brief stay was extremely enjoyable. The bed was blissfully comfortable.

An outstanding hotel that merits its * rating. The staff were extremely attentive and the facilities were excellent from a wide and sunlit terrace with views across the harbour to numerous comfortable seating areas. Rooms are well equipped with comfortable beds and outstanding air conditioning, plus the latest in Japanese style WC’s! Parking is inside the hotel grounds and near the entrance. Access to Bilbao city centre is easy enough with Neguri Metro station only a 15-minute walk from the hotel – services run every 6 or 7 minutes with a 25 minute ride time and low fares. The hotel is in an upmarket residential area and the beach is only 10 minutes walk away.

Beautiful hotel in excellent location, but badly let down by the poor service we received. Check in was speedy and the bell boys were superb, but things went swiftly downhill. When invited to enjoy a welcome drink, we sat on the patio unattended for at least 15 mins. This is a 5 star hotel; I did not expect to go in search of staff. Upon finding 4 youngsters hiding behind the bar, I managed to secure drinks. We chose the hotel for the restaurant and perused the chef’s menu over a drink. We agreed to book the taster menu and wine flight for my birthday and made other reservations accordingly. When I then asked to make a booking, I was told the chef wasn’t there and the meal was unavailable for the entire trip. This is not acceptable. If the menu is not available, it should not have been handed to us. Our plans needed changing and we were not off to the best start. I will continue below….

The antique building is impressive, paired with modern and tasteful interiors. the concierge and reception team were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with a stunning view. The mattress is comfortable.

The hotel location was perfect, the views were amazing, a short walk to the beach where there were a few bars and restaurants. The food and drink at the hotel was excellent. The hotel room was exceptionally clean, comfortable and beautiful. Would definitely love to stay here again

Everything about this real-life palace is exquisite, but the staff and service stand out above the rest. Everyone was so kind, helpful and professional that it was a real pleasure. From check-in where Jesus helped with any question or concern, to the impeccable restaurant service (with delicious breakfast), masseuse and housekeeping staff… I cannot say enough! Thank you all for making my Hyrox experience unforgettable.

Nice, helpful and friendly staff. Modern facilities. Very clean. Newly furbished. Very comfortable. Also do note that there's a flight of steps in the bedroom, so heavier bags can be troublesome, however hotel luggage porter did the job so well from unloading the car to carry all suitcases up in my room. And on check-out, I barely touch my bag, the porter did everything and the heavy luggages are now ready inside the car.

What a hidden gem- we loved it

“Great hotel that comes very close.”

Our room was nice though smaller than expected. Good bed and excellent bathroom, poor view for a higher graded room. Hotel itself is beautiful and a great view over the river from rear patio. Restaurant food was good rather than great but restaurant staff friendly but need training for prices being charged and where they are pitching themselves, the whole atmosphere wasn’t just right. Bar again beautiful but again staff just need a bit more training. Prices are high for the area.
