Overview
Established in 1817, Bosenkan is a ryokan with a 3600 square metre Japanese garden and various hot spring baths including a spacious open-air bath. Free shuttles from/to JR Gero Station is available. Free WiFi is provided at the lobby, and free private parking is also available at this ryokan. Bosenkan has been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2016. Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV. Certain rooms feature a seating area where you can relax. Towels, yukata robes, toothbrushes and a hairdryer are provided. There is free shuttle service, a 24-hour front desk and gift shop at the property. Gero Onsen is 500 metres from Bosenkan, while Gero Hot Spring is 600 metres from the property. Takayama city is a 60-minute drive away, while Shirakawa-go is a 120-minute drive away.

Becarfull. The photos on the website only highlight the beautiful things. The Oncen is very pleasant. The outdoor garden is very beautiful. To have a good experience at this hotel, perhaps you should book the special rooms with a true river view...

“A perfect hotel to stay in nice town of Gero,”
Bosenkan is a well design old hotel with good facilities -onsen is on basement floor with outside pool is very good and open 24 hrs - with some break cleaning hours -room is big and comfortable, we have river view and close to railway track that we feel ok with train running sound occasionally that is ok. -breakfast is traditional Japanese set that change every day. -they has very big parking space next to hotel, so people who plan to drive will be very happy -all staff is very helpful and can communicate in English fluently. In overall, Gero is small town good for traveller who want a relax and real traditional Japanese trip. We also took half day to Takayama and feel unimpressed as a lot of westerner tourist all around town with everything expensive.

The garden is really beautiful and the outdoor and private onsens were so relaxing and beautiful. All of the staff were so helpful, delicious dinner and breakfast. The outdoor onsen was a highlight, just so beautiful.

Bosenkan was a super experience for my family in every way - the rooms, ambiance, beautiful onsen and we especially appreciated the warm and friendly staff. We were originally going to stay only 2 nights but we extended for another 2 nights.
