A beautifully run, friendly, welcoming apartment complex right on the beach. Short walking distance to supermarkets and an excellent bakery. And easy drive to any number of great beaches, towns, and a freshwater lake. Also close to Chania (and its airport). The family who run the accommodation and their staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and good at what they do. Don't miss out on eating at the bar/restaurant - Maria is an amazing cook as well as the perfect host. And if you're a lover of craft beer, they have the best range in Western Crete.

Maria and Costas (and the two generations of their family on either side) were so wonderful and welcoming, we couldn't have been made to feel more at home. They are such generous and lovely proprietors, nothing feels like too much to ask, I was totally blown away. We ate our evening meal out a few times but only wanted to come back to the restaurant at Baladinos because the delicious food there is prepared with love, because it is basically their family kitchen too, and it felt like we were eating in their home. Don't expect to see a menu anywhere. Costas and Maria will give you a verbal run down of all the dishes they have freshly prepared that day and you can choose from vegetarian and meat options, slow cooked, oven cooked and grilled - they have salads, ice cream and a bar too. A great sign is that so many locals choose it as their spot for an evening drink and a meal, or a weekend hang out. The room was a simple set up and had plenty of space form my son and I to enjoy our stay. It was cleaned every day which was great. The kitchen is enough to prepare a simple meal from, so we made breakfasts and our own lunches, but ate the delicious breakfast in the restaurant whenever we felt like it too. Baladinos Apartments is literally ON the beach, it's idyllic, we spent every day hanging out there. We could borrow an umbrella for the beach, which was great - beware the wind - umbrellas not always practical. We would love to return if we can!

The location is perfect—just a three-minute walk from the bus stop by the sea. The beach is always uncrowded; in the morning, there was no one but us, which I consider a huge plus. Sunbeds are also available. The sea is beautiful, though the weather can be quite changeable—but even with waves, it’s still swimmable. The food deserves special mention—it’s delicious, no worse than in nearby restaurants, and perhaps even better. A special thanks to Maria for her help and kindness. I definitely recommend this place!

Kostas and Maria are incredibly kind, genuinely warm, and deeply committed individuals who welcome you as if you were part of their family. Their hospitality, delicious homemade cooking, spotless cleanliness, and the peaceful atmosphere make this place much more than just accommodation: it’s a heartfelt experience in a dreamy setting. Unique small family-run hotel, with the most helpful and kind couple as hosts

We are absolutely delighted with the Baladinous apartments. The host is very welcoming and gave us excellent recommendations. The breakfasts are delicious, and the location is right on the beachfront: sunbeds, a SUP board, umbrellas. You can also get an umbrella and beach towels. Yes, the shower cabin is not very spacious, but everything else is simply wonderful! We will definitely come back if we’re ever in the area again.

Even if the expectations were a bit high after reading the reviews and viewing the pictures, I cannot forget how I felt when I actually got there. I was overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the place and I felt very lucky to have discovered this gem. I don't know if any review or picture could actually describe how you feel there. And then it got better, every day. Everything was perfect: the beach, the bar, the food, and especially the people there. And the slow blues, of course 🙂. I cannot imagine I would stay anywhere else if I come back to Crete.
