“Perfect for those looking to experience a slice of NZ History and connect with other travelers.”
Magical historical building, run like an old fashioned B&B- like stepping back in time in the most wonderful way! Communal meals, genuine connection with guests, a feeling of being at home.

“An unforgettable stay at Waikonini Homestead, warm hospitality, exceptional food, a beautifully kept heritage home, and t”
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Waikonini Homestead. I originally booked the Summer House, but as the weather turned rainy and quite cold, Mary very kindly upgraded my room free of charge. That thoughtful gesture truly meant a lot. Mary looked after us so well throughout our stay. Both breakfast and dinner were top-notch, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The whole experience felt warm and personal, and the environment genuinely felt like home. The homestead itself is a stunning heritage house, exceptionally well maintained, I honestly couldn’t spot a single speck of dust. Everything was immaculate and cared for with pride. And of course, I can’t forget Annie and Pipi (I hope I got the names right!),the two adorable corgis. They were such a sweet highlight of the stay. Highly recommended. I would definitely love to come back again!

“I needed some R&R, and starting my three-day trip here was the best decision I could have made.”
It was a wonderful stay—the homestead was exactly what I was looking for. The farm animals, dogs, cats, and garden added an extra-special touch for me. Mary was just lovely, so open and welcoming, and the other guests were lovely and interesting to chat with too. I loved my room and felt right at home and nicely rested. I would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone who appreciates old homes and lovely Kiwi hospitality.

“A welcoming and wonderful place to stop off in the countryside.”
The Waikonini Homestead is a magical place. A beautiful country home in a stunning location, full of antique furnishings and with a garden filled with flowers. I was greeted by a gaggle of geese, ducks and hens when I arrived, along with two dogs and cats. Mary is a fantastic host and so knowledgeable about the area, happy to recommend day trips locally. The bed was very comfortable and the shared bathroom clean. I would definitely recommend Waikonini for a lovely stay in the New Zealand countryside.
