The place feels more like staying in a real home than anything which is really nice. It is an old house so if you need a lot of mod cons it might not be for you but it’s very charming and full of character -and internet, hot water and aircon all worked as it should, My room was quite big and it stayed nice and cool. Bathrooms are shared but never had any issues with it being occupied when I needed even if there was only two showers/toilets. As my room didn’t face the street directly it was really quiet and I never heard any noise from street or the other guests. The area is very convenient in the centre but the street feels quite local and a bit away from the main very touristy streets. The host is super friendly and accommodating and gives you lots of tips of what to see and where to eat. I’d stay here again.

Cheah is a fantastic host! She made me feel at home immediately, gave a very long list of things to do and, more importantly, eat in George Town and all of her suggestions were amazing! She even helped me figure out my travel plans for later. Her house is very clean, the location is fantastic and communication is very easy.

“Welcoming, helpful & a feast for the senses”

Cheah gave us such a warm welcome & spent lots of time during check in explaining the highlights of Georgetown & Penang with complimentary maps. We loved getting her insights into some of the best spots to sample the endless local delicacies. We had a spacious room with a ceiling fan & AC. The fan was nice and helpful for the mozzie, as was the mosquito net over the bed. The bathroom was very clean & refreshing. The common area included free tea, coffee & water filter. Cheah was really attentive and responded promptly to all our queries. She also kindly organised our laundry, so we could spend more time exploring exploring.

Cheah is a very friendly and helpful host who goes above and beyond answering our questions and offered a lot of suggestions on good places to eat. The location is perfect as a base for exploring George Town. There is a cat cafe nearby

The owner Cheah gives a lot of information about things to do and see in Georgetown, also there was a water shortage and she updated us right away. Accomodation is basic but very comfortable and it looks really nice!

“The Perfect George Town Stay”

Our hostess, Cheah certainly qualifies as the most delightful, helpful, approachable and genuinely happy person we’ve encountered at a hotel/motel/guesthouse/homestay/Airbnb on our extensive travels over a period of many years. This little gem of a house (and hostess) has all you need. Comfortable rooms and comfortable bed with fresh, good quality linens. Excellent WiFi and a/c. and it all comes with a genuinely friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Two bathrooms to three rooms meant we didn’t have to wait once. Maybe for a change, go without a private bathroom to experience Vintage House for a few days. The whole place was exceptionally clean. Coffee, tea and filtered water are freely available in a little kitchen area. The location is perfect for a visit to the clan floating jetty’s and many other attractions. Also, it’s only 15 minutes walk to the Prangin and 1st Avenue malls and the Komtar bus station. Cheah will happily help you with anything you ask for and she responds to a message instantly if she’s not on site. Highly recommended for your little Penang visit. Forget the posh hotels and boutiques, it is simply lovely here. Note: there is some traffic noise and general activity outside so if you want absolute peace, then maybe a hotel is better for you; having said that, both slept very well over two nights. Have a look at the ratings and reviews - it’s above 9.5 for good reason. In my opinion, for a truly authentic George Town experience you will not beat The Vintage House.

“Decent stay”

Nice guesthouse a little off the main strip but still places to eat at nearby. I was happy enough here.

Incredible guest house owner :) Very helpful in any advice like sightseeing, money exchange, safety or other travel tips. Nice space inside including retro style rooms. Good location and friendly zone for tourists. Lots of shops, restaurants, banks etc. Wonderful stay :)

Cheah was a lovely host. Gave me lots of good recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The guesthouse itself is very well located in a central location that is easily accessible to most of the main sights/attractions. My room was a decent size, clean, and had a comfortable bed - very good value for money.
