The house is about 160 years old and absolutely beautiful. We loved its charm and homely feeling. Our room, Campbell room, was small but perfect for what we needed. It had a fan and AC, a cupboard, table and multi towel rack. Overall, very comfortable. The staff were fantastic and friendly. They were extremely accommodating to our needs, we initially booked 3 nights but due to flights had to change our dates around, this was no problem to Carnarvon and they assisted us with ease. They also suggested we store our luggage there while we spent a few days in Langkawi, this was great and made our domestic travel so simple. When we returned they had already placed our luggage in our room. The shared bathrooms were always clean and tidy, and they had a water dispenser and some free snacks in the common area. The location is also great, close to the main streets and the jettys- we were able to walk everywhere. The surrounding streets are beautiful and quaint. Highly recommend a stay here.

The location is perfect because it is situated next to a busy food street, and at the heart of a cultural town. We love walking so this hotel suited our interests, it was at a walkable distance to many interesting and cultural locations and very safe.

Loved the location of this house and the offerings of complimentary water, fruit and biscuits during our stay. A bonus for us was the washing/drying facility. A short walking distance from the local bus station which we used to go to a beach, the National park, and the airport.

Really beautiful restored house. In a really good location. An absolutly plus point was that there was a privat bathroom, which is not that common for this area. The restaurant recommendation given us from the Host were really helpful.

Everything was perfect, it was very clean and nice. The host was very friendly and helpful. Free coffee and snacks were perfect. The location is very good. We liked the Chinese interior design.

“Very cool experience to stay in an old house”

The house is quite pretty, and as a visitor it is cool to be able to see what an older Straits Chinese building looks like from the inside. It is also very clean, which is much appreciated as most of us as sharing a communal bathroom and I was concerned (but it turned out to not be an issue). Eva and Nicole were also both very helpful and responsive by message, which helped us a lot (esp as we ended up arriving very late at night, we appreciated the good communication and Eva's willingness to stay up late and meet us). The location is really convenient, the neighbourhood is quiet but you are only one or two streets over from the lively parts of George Town.

Good location. Easy access by walking distance to tourist sight such as Penang Strret Art, Peranakan museum, Wonderfood museum, 3D Trick Art museum, Ghost museum, Teochew Puppet & Opera House, Sun Yat Sen museum and others. Additionally, few Michelin restaurants nearby such as Chao Xuan, My Own Cafe, etc.

The location is very convenient, within walking distance of many of George Town’s main attractions. The hotel is set in a historic building, which gives it a certain charm, with wooden floors and some original interior features that reflect the character of the area.
