I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience. As a doctor who has dedicated my life to helping others, I value fairness and professionalism, and unfortunately I did not experience that here. I requested a 7.6 surfboard but was given a heavily repaired 7.4 instead. During normal conditions while paddling out, the board snapped exactly along previously patched areas. Despite the visible prior damage, I was told I owed 20,000 pesos under the waiver agreement. When I asked to discuss the charge fairly with the owners, I received messages including: “We need this damage settled today otherwise we will pass this matter to the local police.” and later: “There’s no compromise on our side…” Concerned by the situation, I went to the local police station myself for advice and attempted to resolve things calmly. Unfortunately, I found the communication aggressive and unprofessional throughout, which made me uncomfortable enough to leave and find alternative accommodation. Other points guests should know: No air conditioning, rooms get very hot at night Thin walls and significant early morning noise from surf lessons Limited social atmosphere due to the small number of rooms I would strongly encourage guests to inspect equipment carefully before use and fully understand the waiver policies before signing.

Mao Mao Surf is visually very appealing. The photos definitely match reality: beautiful design, stylish small huts, and a lovely pool with a lot of attention to detail. If you are looking for a photogenic place to stay, you will probably enjoy it at first sight.

I really loved the camp : the bar with the very delicious brunch options, the stuff - especially toppe and clearance who were available even after their time… owners are also very great !!! Surf instructor Elton helped so much to progress from begginer to advanced begginer level and I felt very safe… surf rental has also nice boards and there is a surf gym where you can dey practice your pop-up :) sirf analysis woth the drone also helped!

Staying at Maomao was a wonderful experience. A warm, welcoming community formed during our stay with other guests, the staff, the surfing instructors and the owners. The huts are clean, free of bugs or other animals. They offer excellent, professional one-on-one surfing lessons and there’s a lovely chill-out area with good music, tasty breakfast and great coffee. We loved every moment and hope to come back again — it was truly hard to leave this place.

Location is very good, close to the city center but far enough from the mess and confusion of the main street. The house is very cosy, confortable and although there is no AC there are lots of fans in the bedroom. Breakfast Menu is amazing and all the options were better than the other. The cafe area was very chill and welcoming to spend free time. The playlist of the cafe is just perfect. Cool vibe. The staff is very friendly, especially Topi.

We loved our stay at Mao Mao! The huts are beautiful, clean and well equipped with enough space to unpack your bag and storage places. The ensuite bathroom is spacious and clean and we loved the bamboo shower. All staff are super friendly and helpful and thorough instagram dm is was super easy to arrange transportation, surf lessons and other activities. We did multiple surf lessons with the best (and certified) surf instructors. We absolutely had a great time staying here for a week and would love to come back!

The huts were super cute and the ensuite bathrooms were a dream. The location on the island is just perfect and the inhouse surflessons are such a great bonus - all surf instructors are super nice and qualified. I really loved my stay (I stayed 8 nights) and would 100% recommend to anyone.

It is a little paradise. The huts are super confy and designed so beautiful! The surf lessions are very professional. The breakfastarea/hangout area is also really confy and the food defently one of the best breakfasts i ever had! A huge thanks to the whole team who made me feel like home. We were here last year (April 2024) and we fell in love with the place so decided to come back. The charm is still there, the whole place is super pretty. The location is really good, the bathroom/bedroom is very unique and you can really enjoy some amazing breakfast. Also big thanks to the kitchen team and reception for making us feel very welcome.
