Very nice owners, who speak very good English! A great welcome with lime juice, watermelon and cookies, delicious breakfast and dinner! Very quiet, comfortable bed, hot shower, good working ac. Such a lovely couple helping me with talking to Pickme drivers, who don't speak English very well. Supermarkets a bit away, but reachable on foot. Maybe the best stop for arriving or leaving Sri Lanka!

This is great value for money considering the location and the facilities. The host was very friendly and approachable. We came very late in the evening, but he welcomed us well. The bedwas comfy and the room was very clean.

As soon as you enter the big sliding door, you are welcomed by bamboo plants which create a very pleasant ambience. As the name suggests, the courtyard features a mango tree with a concrete table underneath.

Very nice and helpful host, our first local contact after arrival in Sri Lanka, very convenient pick-up at the airport,short drive next morning at the train station, really good first hand informations.

Wow! The hosts were amazing and really ensured our first night/ day in Sri Lanka was memorable and authentic. They were extremely helpful and provided us with all the information we could possibly need. We ended up spending the day with him and he took us all the way to our second place, stopping on the way to show us tea and delicious roti and sambal. He provided us with an in depth history of himself, his family and Sri Lanka in general. Such an informative experience ❤️ The breakfast in the morning was delightful and we loved meeting the three little triplets. Amazing, would HIGHLY recommend.

“Fantastic first experience of Sri Lanka’s welcoming people and delicious food!”

Hosts are incredibly attentive and helpful, and warmly welcomed us into their home and family. Lovely, quiet location and comfortable beds. All meals were home made, enormous and greatly varied with delicious local produce, mosty from the hosts’ own garden. All clearly made with a lot of love and care. Despite arriving tired and jet-lagged we felt safe and cared for straight away and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Wow. What an incredible stay we had at Mango Roots. The room had all we needed and was clean and cooled by the aircon. The host was beyond warm, friendly and helpful. He taught us many interesting things about Sri Lanka, the people and how the country works. We enjoyed wonderful meals with the host and his friendly and energetic family. His wifes pancakes and food won't be beaten! We felt like part of the family and learned so much. We are keen birdwatchers and enjoyed watching the many birds eat the mangos from the tree in the garden - including some endemics. The rice paddy fields down the lane were also a great place to find lots of bird and animal life. A trip to the local Horogolla national park gave a great first rainforest bird experience. If you know how to watch birds and animals in the jungle and have patience you will see a lot - we were treated to mixed flocks, up close territorial white and rufous oriental flycatchers, giant squirrels, spiders and a large monitor lizard. We wpuld cpme and stay again in a heatbeat!

I stayed for one night and had a great time! The host Eranda was most welcoming, picked me up from the airport (for an additional fee), introduced his family to me and told me a lot about Sri Lanka and its culture! The room was very clean and had everything I needed. Eranda provided a very good Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend Mango Roots for everyone going to or coming from the airport and interested in getting to know Sri Lanka and its people! I will be happy to come again when I have the chance!

Extremely friendly, very clean and comfortable place. Would recommend to anybody and it's more than what you expected.

We highly recommend this place! Eranda and Anusha are fantastic and extremely helpful hosts. We were not keen on travelling into Colombo and had quite a few rail journeys planned, and for that, Veyangoda is a great location with lines going East (Main line to Kandy/ Ella etc.) and North (towards Jaffna). So we stayed in Mango Roots twice. Eranda picked us up from the airport and made sure we got dinner despite the late hour. When we came back the second time, he picked us up at the train station (and dropped us there the following morning). Anusha then prepared a fantastic dinner for us that we had at their lovely family home. The rooms are very comfortable, have AC and hot water, and the beds are very comfortable. Thank you again, Eranda and Anusha!

“Warmhearted host, great stay for the beginning of our holiday”

Our host was fantastic. He not only picked us up from the airport and served us fresh and local food, but also drove us to a nearby temple and showed us around. He explained a lot about Sri Lanka to us and warmheartedly invited us to his family. We appreciated his hospitality and kindness and strongly recommend this location to everyone. The room had a king size mattress and air conditioning which was a great relieve for us as it was our first day after having arrived in Sri Lanka.
