Gaillac is a stunning little village just an hour north of Toulouse Airport. We took the bus to the Toulouse Matabiau train station, the train takes around 44 mins to Gaillac and the property is an easy 15 mins walk away. The transfers were super easy. We were greeted by Philippe the host of La vieille ferme de Gaillac who is so friendly and very passionate about his home but he makes you feel like part of his family. He is around but keeps his distance unless you need him or just want to chat. The property is very well equipped and is spotlessly clean, the beds are comfortable and the toilet/shower room is modern and clean. The kitchen has everything you need and more, with a coffee machine which Philippe provides some pods to get you started! There are also various household items like washing up liquid, tin foil, salt, pepper and other various cupboard items to get you going if you choose to cook other than go out. We made use of the barbeque on a couple of nights and again, Philippe provides a starter pack for you. You have access to the outside/covered BBQ area with seating and a table. There is also a box of toys like footballs, Frisbees, badminton racquets etc. The swimming pool is divine and Philippe provides some blow up loungers for your use. The pool is for your own private use and is heated so we could enjoy it any time of the day, it also has a cover to keep that extra little bit of heat in overnight. The gardens are gorgeous with lots of seating and a picnic area. There are little animal ornaments dotted around the bushes and trees which adds a little magical touch to the place. The village of Gaillac is beautiful and the people are very friendly and happy to help with the not so fluent french speakers like us! Phjilippe is very knowledgeable about the area so please ask him about local restaurants and things to do. We visited the Maison de Vin in the Abbey for some great local produce.
