“Amazing food, super warm, comfy and friendly!”

Loved Pension Ashitaya! Best pension we have stayed in Japan (this is our 4th trip). Jimmysan and Norikosan were so welcoming, lovely people with great sense of humour. Pension was warm, beds comfy, super clean and the food was yum! It is out of town so best stay here with a car. Very peaceful.

Gorgeous rural location. Room size large in Japanese standards for our fam of 2 adults and a teenager. Jimmy San and “the boss” (his wife) were fantastic hosts. Definitely opt in for the homecooked breakys and dinners. Loved watching the birds at the feeders while enjoying breaky. Good location to ski fields.

What an absolutely amazing stay we had with Jimmy and his wife + family! We would come back to Hokkaido just to stay here again! 1) the views from the house are amazing! 2) the house itself is so quaint and full of atmosphere 3) everything was super clean 4) breakfast and dinner were simply delicious 5) the onsen baths were very soothing 6) the family is simply great. So much hospitality and since Jimmy can speak English very well, we were able to ask him many questions about Hokkaido and Japan! 100% recommended!!!!

Such a warm and generous pair of hosts in Jimmy-San and Noriko. Incredibly helpful and engaging, and Jimmy-san speaks excellent English. The place is absolutely lovely, with roaring fireplace and comfy sitting areas, as well as two great in house "onsen" (well... large hot baths). Jimmy-san was extremely flexible and accommodating with driving us to and from the ski hills as we didn't have a car. He even delivered our bags to us at lunchtime on the day we left so we could get the bus out. And the dinners were spectacular! Amazing and diverse home cooked Japanese food. Really delicious. Breakfasts were good too, but certainly not quite the same standard.

Rooms were large and beds were comfortable. The shared bathroom facilities were well maintained. Enjoyed the warm hospitality of Jimmy and his wife. Jimmy speaks wonderful English and was most helpful.

This place is very cute and cozy, everything is very nicely organized and clean. But I must point out how nice the hosts are! Jimmy was very helpful, friendly and welcoming, he gave us some good tips a well. His lovely wife was baking bread every morning for breakfast. We are very happy with Pension Ashitaya.

“Exceptional Service and Food!”

Jimmy was very accommodating and helpful even before and throughout the trip, offering advice and even rides to the ski slopes and Furano city wherever possible. The place is well organized, kept warm during the winter season and clean. Water and hot coffee is provided free at the hall area. Jimmy cares to check your schedule and offer to send and pick you up from the ski resort or town area if there is no other conflicting schedule. His wife is an exceptional cook and we highly recommend having breakfast and dinner at the Pension - it is affordable and full of warmth. The serving is better than many restaurants food. A must try if your trip schedule fits the timing. We had a great stay here and will come back again.

“Comfortable, friendly, welcoming pension to enjoy Furano.”

The room was generous in size. The hosts Jimmy and Riko were warm and engaging. The meals at the Pension were delicious and very welled priced. The room was warm - we stayed in winter. It was a straight forward drive of 10 minutes to get to the ski area. Great views across the valley overlooking the vineyard and winery.

- Breakfast available for 1k JPY / pax. - Traditional japanese environment. - It's like a single family home, with no attached houses nearby. - It's very quiet at night. - I was surprised by the bathroom size. It's decorated similar to the public bath in Japan, except it's actually private.

The owners are very friendly and really go out of their way to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay. The rooms and layout are very comfortable, and the meals the owners prepare are delicious. This was a perfect place to stay for our ski trip.

Everything! the pension feels like home! although the facilities are sharing basis, but the facilities were clean and you barely see anyone there. the outside of the pension looks like narnia!

Host Jimmy san was a delight. He looked after our family helping us gather ski rental and transferring us to and from the ski resort daily. We opted to eat in and the meals were delicious. The family onsen was clean and convenient.

Good location with nice foral view. Easy to access upper town and lower town by driving. Above all, friendly owner Gimmy is willing to share local knowledge which is very helpful for this staying.
