“Great home stay for a family”

It’s located opposite Shimoyoshida station. The room is spacious and facilities are clean. Staffs are friendly and so easy to communicate with the owner.

One of my favourite stays during our trip to Japan. A lovely space to relax and sleep, conveniently located next to the station and a short walk to the Chureito Pagoda. Really comfy futons and clean facilities. We loved meeting the friendly and kind owner too.

Incredibly convenient location, right opposite Fujiyoshida Station, and the staff were very friendly. The room was very spacious and there was more than enough space to open our 3 large suitcases.

Kind staff and classic japanese building with tatami. Perfect for a short retirement after walking for weeks in Japan. Also Mt. Fuji is ~1h away with public transport.

I loved the homey feeling, the hosts were so friendly and helpful! The room is the only one in the accommodation, just up the stairs from their small cafe restaurant. It is Japanese style, with futon beds on tatami floors and a small staircase to get up to the room. It is clean and spacious, has a table and pillow seats, a mini fridge to store drinks, and the air con worked great! The accommodation is so close to the station you can see it from the train tracks and indeed the bedroom windows face the station so would be perfect for a train lover! The accommodation is a super easy 15-20 walk up to Chureito Pagoda; we stayed one night and made it up for sunset and sunrise Fuji views both beating the tourist mobs. Gorgeous!

Really amazing location for exploring Fujikawaguchiko and quick access to Chureito Pagoda which I couldn't match anywhere else. The staff were really nice and welcoming. They operate a cafe under the room where we grabbed a nice coffee from. The room was traditional Japanese style which for us is always more interesting. Nice and cozy!

“Great value and perfect location for exploring Fuji Five Lakes”

The host explains everything clearly with a cute YouTube video. The space was very clean, the futons were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great. It was nice coming back to our own space in the evenings. Guesthouse Arakura is in the perfect location for exploring Fuji Five Lakes, especially for a morning walk up to Chureito Pagoda and views along Honcho street towards Mt. Fuji. We were so happy we decided to stay here instead of Kawaguchiko. Shimoyoshida is lovely and quaint, and we really enjoyed wandering around the quiet streets and discovering cute shops and restaurants. I recommend a visit to the rice ball shop Omusubi Kon, as well as Sakigake izakaya. Unfortunately we didn't get time to enjoy the food at Cafe Arakura, but the food on the menu looked delicious and I regret not trying the curry!

“If you want to sleep and stay the authentic Japanese way, look no further!”

I liked the way it was 100% down to earth Japanese authenticity, not something that was very aligned with western expectations. (Everything that mattered was translated to English anyways.) I liked that.

“Cozy accomodations prior to Mount Fuji summit”

Arrived, and key was provided promptly. We had a total of 8 guests, and location was perfect for a resting point prior to our Mt Fuji summit attempt. We only had the opportunity to eat in the restaurant downstairs one time since it was one night but I would definitely eat their multiple times next time.

The view and location were excellent! It was a quiet neighborhood, and Lawson is just around the corner. It was easy to access the place, and getting into the place with the door code was very convenient. It was easy to reach out to the host as well. I definitely recommend this place if you're on a budget.

“Great Japanese experience”

The location is perfect, close to the train station and the Sengen Park. The house is a traditional Japanese house so it is a fun experience to sleep there. The hosts are the best, my son broke one glass and they were worried for our safety and solved the problem very efficiently. Thank you for everything!

Location is just across Shimoyoshida Station. Easy access to tourists spots. Excellent and accommodating host. Traditional room was perfect.

“Comfy futons in the best location”

Located just across the road from the train station this was just the perfect spot. The guesthouse is a big tatami room above the family restaurant with a shower and toilet downstairs The futons were the comfiest we’ve had in Japan and loved the little blinds divider so we could separate the kids and adults at night, like 2 little rooms. No cooking facilities as such but had access to hot water and a microwave. Good hot shower and heat pump kept us warm in the cold winter days. Great stay, highly recommend

We were greeted warmly by the owner upon arrival who showed us a cute video introducing the rules of the guesthouse. Although not all amenities were provided (expected as it was very affordable) everything was placed thoughtfully including a mosquito repellent machine. Very clean and spacious. Directly across from the station and short walk to shrine with a wonderful Mt Fuji view.

Very convenient location - next to the cute little Shimoyoshida train station and Cherito Pagoda. Kawaguchi-ko is touristy and built up, so Shimoyoshida gave us a more traditional experience. We hired bikes to go around the lake.
