Staff is the best I've ever encountered. Nicest, most professional. Went above and beyond.

Historical. More charm than a Swiss finishing school. Beautiful Hotel.

Amazing stay, photos don‘t do it justice!

Don‘t hesitate to book! We travel a lot and we are not campers, we like a good hotel. This hotel is old, but clean and has every luxury needed! We were treated like VIPs, this hotel is an absolutely authentic experience, we were the only people with non-japanese names at the time. The Onsen and the room are absolutely authentic and unique experiences. We loved everything. The breakfast is not for the weak though, it‘s authentic for Enoshima and traditional food that includes a whole fish. I could not eat it, but the staff were lovely about it. Room view on Fuji San was the cherry on top!

Our favorite stay in Japan

Despite some language difficulties, the staff were very helpful and attentive. This is a great example of a traditional room experience in Japan. Highly recommended. The location was also very nice. It was cloudy when we were there, but they said on clear days there would have been a view of Mt Fuji from our window.

A perfect place to stay for Enoshima island; beautiful inner gardens with koi ponds, hot baths that melt your tiredness away and a local cuisine that is both surprising and exceptional in taste

Authentic experience in tiny Enoshima

Lovely historical ryokan with very « retro » ambiance, which brings you back in the 50ties or 70ies. Strategically located, the ryokan is at walking distance from shrines, Candle, shops and the 450-meter bridge linking Enoshima to the mainland (where there is an amazing aquarium worth the visit). The ryokan has also two public baths, which offer a very relaxing experience. Personnel is very nice and attentive, and speaks only Japanese. Equipped with tea-boiler and bath amenities, the room had amazing view on the sea and we were able to see Mt Fuji-san in all its beauty. Very Japanese breakfast and dinner are available: worth the experience, if you like eating grilled fish in the morning!

Probably the best Ryokan you can get on Enoshima

Amazing views from our window, with Mt Fuji in the backgroud. A powerful AC, and an amazing breakfast. Staff wakes you up before breakfast every morning - so you'll hardly have to hurry down to catch it. While the Island itself lack konbini-stores (convenience stores) the nearest are a ~15 min walk away. Taking day-trips to Tokyo and even Mt Fuji we found to be very doable. Busses to Fuji go from Fujisawa St. (Odakyu line) every now and then, and Trains to Shinjuku go basically every 10 minutes. Do tell them though if you're heading far so they know that they might need to wait.

Best location on the island with a spectacular view of Mount Fuji!

The best location and view on the Island! The hotel is located up the hill on the main pedestrian street leading up to the temple. Our tatami room had a spectacular view of Mount Fuji and the sea. The hotel is very traditional, quiet, interior a little dated, and serves an amazing Japanese breakfast. The breakfast room also has a view of Mount Fuji. The staf is very friendly, formal and helpful. Some members of staff were wearing a kimono. Please note that the hotel closes its doors at 10pm, as most other traditional hotels in Japan. Despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel for one or two nights on the Island of Enoshima.

Unbelievably good value for money- a fabulous Japanese ryokan experience

I could not believe the view of Mt Fuji over the sea from my window! The sunset was stunning. The cave bath is superb. There is a small old shrine in the far corner with Tori gates. It certainly pre dates the current bath and fits with the long history of the original inn. The Roman style bath with stained glass from last century is also great. The inn is located on the wall up to the major Enoshima shrine but is quiet. Breakfast is traditional Japanese and very generous with many local specialties

Unique Roman-style baths steps away from the Enoshima strip

Iwamotoro is a very unique ryokan with Roman-style baths: one cave and one stained-glass art. Located right on the lively Enoshima strip, it's a great location to explore the many shops & restaurants while getting time to retreat quietly & dip into the onsen. The room had a view of Mt Fuji which was an amazing treat.

Old class and style. True service and a special Japanese experience.

This was such a find. Quite old and tired decor but staff went way and beyond to make everything perfect. Every thing was thought of and the view was spectacular. Mount Fuji was not visible due to overcast weather but the outlook over the sea was still spectacular.
