“I feel like I was being discriminated against in my own Asia”

On the first night of arriving at the house I was expecting to be greeted with a warm smile and a welcome to the house but instead I was met with an angry attitude and a lot of scolding just because I checked in at 11pm after I had spent hours getting lost on the streets in the pouring rain as the house’s address cannot be found on Google map. I went to bed very disappointed and sad. The next morning I woke up and decided that it’s another day and I’m gonna give Nory another chance because he's already 95 and living by himself. I left the house in the morning only to come back at night WITHOUT my room that I HAD PAID FOR. All my stuff got moved to the tiny single bed room, with the explanation from the host saying that “I thought you were not coming anymore so I gave the room to other people”. The thing is, I had stayed one night there, why was I kicked out of the master bedroom the next day! The new people who came to the house 1 day after me, just moved in the room like that, sleep in the bed and I had no choice but to stay in the tiny bedroom. Why didn’t the host let new people stay in the empty room? Why did he kick me out of my room to let other people in? The whole time I was there, I was feeling disrespected and humiliated! I cried the first night I arrived because of the unnecessary verbal attack that came like a storm after I had been so physically exhausted trying to find the house. As soon as I decided to let it go because I am not a petty person, he disrespected me one more time by giving my room to other people and forcing me to stay in a much smaller room. At that point I decided that was my last straw and I’m bringing this matter to Booking. It should be noted that the host of the house find absolutely no problem when the white/ Western guys come home super late at night (as in midnight) but when it comes to me, when I checked in late for a solid reason, I get treated like a criminal.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Nory's house. We were welcomed like family. We made life long treasured memories .

It was a really big house with a big room all for yourself. The Host, an older gentleman invited me for a welcome drink at the bar in the livingroom. He is incredibly polite and doesn't do it for the money. He wants to meet people and talk to them. The value to price ratio is extremely good. Because his wife died and it's a big house the house would need some cleaning here and there. But the actual rooms you're staying in are completely clean and smell really nice. The host is for japanese standards really good with english so communication isn't a problem even if your Japanese is not on par.

The host was great. The property was well managed. Adequate facilities were provided, along with comfort.
