“Wholesome and amazing views (on a clear day!)”
We were so lucky to have two clear days, and the views are sensational! It's a 20minute walk from the station (we actually did the walk as we only had backpacks), but it's right by the lake which was so nice! We did a super nice stroll around the lake for 1hr to get to Oishi park. It's close to a few bike hire places (try to reserve the day before!). The onsen was lovely, the traditional breakfast was delicious. The family who run the hotel are so friendly and sweet, and emanate lovely positive energy. The rooms are traditional, so are supposed to be basic, but are huge. No shower in room as these are in the onsen area, but i liked that as it meant you were actually visited and used the onsen!

We booked this ryokan for a one-night weekend escape when very few decent options were still available. Photos, descriptions and earlier reviews left us uncertain, so we arrived with modest expectations – and were completely won over. The experience felt crafted by perfectionists for perfectionists: everywhere you look, everything is immaculately clean, beautifully authentic and thoughtfully arranged. The welcome set the tone perfectly – we were invited to remove our shoes at the entrance (slippers are provided, though we’d recommend going barefoot as locals do) and then treated to tea with a delicate sweet. It immediately felt less like a hotel and more like visiting family. That warmth carried through our entire stay: the staff are exceptionally kind and attentive, genuinely doing 100% to make your stay perfect. When we ran into a tricky situation, they stepped in and helped without hesitation – we remain deeply grateful. The room was a joy. No shower (only a toilet with its own dedicated slippers), but that’s part of the authentic ryokan layout; the onsen more than compensates. It was spotless, serene and never crowded – we had it to ourselves. All the amenities you need for a shower are provided there. In the room, we found a drinking-water tap, a thermos pot, two sets of yukata that looked completely natural to wear, and dedicated charging outlets. Walking barefoot on the tatami added to the calming, ritual-like feel. The location is genuinely convenient. A few minutes’ walk to the bus stop, the lake, a shop and a café. The ryokan also offers a shuttle, although we simply took a bus from the station and arrived in 15 minutes. We booked without breakfast, so we cannot comment on the food – but given the level of care in everything else, we suspect it would be wonderful.

“The perfect stay when we got engaged. We will remember it forever.”
It’s perfection. This is more than a hotel, it feels like home. We couldn’t be more pleased we picked Taiheikan for our stay. It will always hold a special place in our hearts, as we got engaged here 🥹 Hiromi and the team are absolutely wonderful and treated us with such care. Our room had the most perfect view of Mount Fuji and for the price we paid, we would’ve paid it again and more. You cannot fault it. The perfect stay and we will forever hold Taiheikan in our hearts ♥️💍

“Excellent in every way”
From the moment I booked this accommodation to the moment I checked out, everything has been exceptional. The service was otherworldly - kind, generous, thoughtful. The room was beautiful and fantastic views of Mt Fuji. Traditional style rooms, fantastic Onsen, breakfast to die for. Every thoughtful touch you could imagine. I will come back here again.

“Surreal view and location, Hospitable Service, and Clean Facilities”
The cleanliness of all facilities as well as the room, the view, the staff, the location... honestly everything was perfect! I thought it would be too good to be true that the view would be as advertised in the photos, but it exceeded my expectations. I would stay at the Taiheikan again if I were to visit Fujikawaguchiko again in the future.

“Great view and service, I would definitely come back.”
If lucky with the weather, there is an amazing view of Mount Fuji from the room but honestly the main reason why I would go back is the service. They are so welcoming and friendly. Japanese breakfast and onsen experience were also amazing !

“Unforgettable stay with breathtaking Mt. Fuji view, amazing staff and facility, 10/10 recommend!”
The hotel has an incredible view of Mount Fuji, it was truly the highlight of my trip to Japan! I got really lucky with the weather during the two days we stayed there (I booked one night for me and my two friends), so the mountain was fully visible the entire time. The view was absolutely breathtaking and made the whole experience unforgettable. The facility itself is beautiful, with a traditional Japanese style atmosphere. Shoes are not allowed indoors, and slippers are provided at the entrance for guests. Hiromi was incredibly kind and welcoming. She greeted us with warm smiles and even spoke a bit of Italian, which was such a lovely touch while helping us settle in. We also had the chance to experience the private onsen for the first time, and it was amazing. Such a relaxing and memorable moment that allowed us to completely unwind. The next morning, we tried a traditional Japanese breakfast. Even though I’m not usually used to savory breakfasts, I really enjoyed it: it felt like such an authentic and special experience to share together. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and unforgettable stay near Fujikawaguchiko 🗻

“Excellent, traditional inn.”
Fantastic traditional inn, the japanese breakfast was incredible. The lady at the reception was so helpful and friendly! I had a great view of Mt Fuji right from my bedroom. There is also a lovely onsen on the basement, nice and quiet.
