“Beautiful traditional stay”

Great stay, beautiful remote location with stunning lake views from our room. In walking distance from e-bike rental that were great to get about and see the area. Free shuttle bus was offered each day into the town and back if needed. Food was delicious and great to try lots of different traditional foods.

“Wonderfully Maintained Traditional Ryokan”

Rooms we booked were dated, but very spacious and well maintained. We loved having the option of the western bed and futons, and because we stayed 3 nights, we were able to try both. Because the room and tatami area were separate, it is great for families that want to socialise after putting their kids to bed. Meals were fun to have together wearing traditional Yukatas. They provide multiple in the room and guests can wear them to meals and for onsen. Breakfast and dinner were set meals. Breakfast was in a common dining hall, while dinner was served in private dinner room. Each day had a different menu for both breakfast and dinner. Dinner served cold starters, sides, entree, main, sashimi and dessert. Everything was supper yummy, but you can't request for any customisation.

The ryokan was absolutely wonderful. The room was excellent, the service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the view of Mount Fuji was breathtaking. Staying at Maruei Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan—everything was perfect.

A true cultural experience. Stay were amazing, as was the experience. Our room had a view of Mount Fuji and had a private bath. Dinner was presented in the room and was great.

The view of Mt. Fuji from our room was breathtaking, and the entire staff was incredibly helpful and polite.

We had an incredible stay. Rooms were very clean, spacious, and traditional. We had a great view of Mt Fuji. You can get a room with a small bath facing the mountain or the lake, but you can also book a private onsen (spa) or visit the public ones. Staff are extremely nice and respectful. The meals are also very traditional (and adventurous for us non-locals). The beds are futons on the tatami floor which the staff set up for you at dinner. I liked that the hotel was also a bus stop for the Lake Saiko sightseeing bus. There is also a convenient shuttle to the station. On the top floor is a great observation deck with a free telescope.

Hello, We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed the full immersion into the Japanese experience. The dinner served in the room was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We also loved seeing the traditional Japanese beds being prepared in front of us — such a unique touch. The welcome matcha was a lovely detail, and the private Japanese bath available for guests with tattoos was greatly appreciated. The breakfast was also very good and nicely traditional. Finally, the staff were incredibly kind, respectful, and truly adorable. Thank you for such a memorable experience!
