This place blew us away. The open-air bath with a direct view of Mount Fuji is something we'll remember for a long time — an absolutely magical experience. The room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the lake is literally a two-minute walk from the front door. On top of that, there are two convenience stores right next to the hotel, which is incredibly handy. If you're visiting the Fuji area, don't hesitate — this is where you want to stay.

“Good stay”
Good location to view Mt Fuji especially in the morning, you can walk to lake side to take pictures of Mt Fuji. Clean room and bathroom. Smooth check-in, send estimated arrival time to hotel so the receptionist is still around even I arrived at 5pm.

“Lovely quiet spot by the lake”
Great location in a quieter part of the lake, but still easy to get to by the sightseeing bus (bus stop is right outside). There are a couple of convenience stores and restaurants nearby. So close to the lake and you can see Fuji from the car park! Spacious rooms, delicious breakfast

“A lovely little hotel”
Lovely quiet hotel. The room was large, bathroom was very clean and appeared new. We were accommodated in the annex which was a short walk from reception but we had use of the lounge in the evening in the annex. It was well situated for several restaurants and near the art museum and musical forest. Breakfast was freshly prepared Japanese style, but also yoghurt and fruit.

This is honestly a chalet instead of a hotel. But a well equipped chalet. 2 twin beds and 9 square tatami with extra sets of futon. It's easily accommodating a whole family to maybe 7 adults, more if kids. I just happened to be in a short notice before I want to secure the seat, or else I'd recommend to plan for a group of people to spread to cost and then it's very reasonable cost. There's great amenities you can expect from most hotels. Clean and tidy as most others for a stay. Plus a outdoor bath on top floor. Although its possible to have a view at Mt. Fuji while bathing its not the best view since its blocked by tons of trees and not direct angle view, but still, you can achieve the experience of bathing while gazing at the mountain still. The lake is 5 minutes walk from the place so you can wake up at first light. 3 minutes away is a conevenient store that operates quite late into the nights in case for any last minute supplies if needed. All things good except one caution is that public transport is the last hurdle to enjoy this place. All those baggaes, extra large backpacks would fill up the buses going back to kawakuchiko station, only except you rent a car around here. Or pack light and use bicycle as a mean.

“Comfortable, well located hotel, a few minutes walk from the lake/Fuji views”
North side of the Lake so 2 minute walk to Lakeside views of Mt Fuji. Welcoming staff. Comfortable, good sized, quiet rooms. Tourist bus (red route) literally outside, 24 hour well stocked Family Mart (convenience store) below it. In house cake shop provided tasty sweet treats. Breakfast was pretty basic but fresh, limited options. Although not as well serviced with restaurants/shops as the south side of the lake, plenty of eating options (you get better views from the north side).

“Good area for Mount Fuji views”
Really great location for the lake and Mount Fuji. The rooms were comfortable and there is a nice communal area. There are buses and taxis to take you to the main town and several dining options close by.

Room was a great size in a separate small Annex near the main building. Very clean, near and felt like it had been recently updated.

I am sharing this experience to prevent other travelers from encountering the same situation. On December 23, 2025, I booked two fully prepaid rooms at Hotori no Hotel Ban (one for myself and one for a friend). Upon arrival, I discovered that the two rooms were located in different buildings, so I asked the front desk whether it was possible to move us to the same building. The front desk staff clearly told me that a room change was possible at no additional cost, but instructed me that I would need to cancel the original reservation first. Trusting the hotel staff, I followed their instructions and canceled a fully paid reservation of ¥21,960. However, after the cancellation was completed, the staff consulted their supervisor and then informed me that the reservation should not have been canceled in the first place. At that point, the cancellation could not be reversed, and I was required to make a new reservation and pay an additional ¥11,520. When I later requested a refund, the hotel claimed that I had “voluntarily canceled” the reservation and shifted responsibility to the booking platform’s cancellation policy. This claim is unreasonable. Without the explicit instruction from the front desk staff, no rational guest would cancel a fully paid reservation while already standing at the front desk ready to check in. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that the hotel had other reasonable options, but none were properly explained. For example: • If I had been clearly informed that the original reservation was non-refundable, I could have simply chosen to stay in the originally assigned rooms • Alternatively, the hotel could have adjusted my stay using the higher rate I had already paid and reassigned us to a cheaper room in the same building Instead, the hotel chose the most unreasonable and guest-unfriendly solution, causing unnecessary financial loss. This experience reflects a serious lack of professional communication and accountability.
