“Avoid this place if you have tattoos”
Before I booked this hotel I was aware that the Onsen is off limits because of my tattoos and I was okay with it. However, once I went to my room (Single room, new building) I noticed that it has just a toilet. I called the reception with the phone in the room and they directed me to shower in the Onsen. I did let them know that I had tattoos and I don't want to bother other people and they said that they can't help me then. After I insisted on showering they said they will get back to me shortly and their solution was for me to pay 24 000 yen so I can get a room with a shower. My room costed 10 500 for the night, so that room upgrade is double and a half an the price. I did end up declining, because that's just extortion and went to bed without showering. After escalating this with Booking.com, the hotel told the customer service staff that SPA was offered to me but I declined, which is untrue, the only thing I got was 24000 yen or no shower.
