“Repeat stay in this beautiful hideaway in Franschhoek - Just perfect....”

I consider myself a well travelled person and I am very particular and fussy about where I stay but I have the say Villa Simondium is a cut above the rest... Second time staying here - I really wanted to return and experience it again as it is such an amazing place to stay - the house is absolutely stunning, nestled on a private estate on the road into Franschhoek with the backdrop of a beautiful equestrian centre.. (I loved watching the horses every morning) . It is peaceful, very secure with beautiful views, a lovely pool and an amazing private garden with all the amenities that you could need .. braii, plenty of outdoor seating etc. . The house itself is like something out of "House and Gardens" and has quite a French feel about it. The kitchen is a chef's dream, the beds are comfy and its super clean... lots of hot water and no load shedding that we experienced. it really is a traveller's dream. Host communicates well and left a very lovely (and probably very expensive) Babylonstoren hamper... if I could give this property a 12/10 I would... again I hope to return in the future.. my friends who stayed with me this time just couldn't believe how amazing it was.. “Very uncomfortable and an absolute nightmare to deal with the property manager.”

The property owner is rude and unprofessional. Bathrooms are in an extremely poor condition, mouldy and tiles missing on the floors. Garden service comes during the stay when you trying to swim and relax. Mice running around outside means you have to keep your doors closed. Fridge had food in it. Beds are uncomfortable and old. Family photos are everywhere, very unprofessional.

I had been wanting to stay at Villa Simondium since 2020 when my trip was unfortunately curtailed due to Covid. When we entered the accommodation literally all our jaws dropped!! the property is very well laid out and absolutely stunning; from the height of the ceilings in the sitting room, to the amazing terrace with large table and chairs, swimming pool, outside braii and fireplace, a separate firepit area and the amazing garden.. The kitchen was something else - just brilliantly equipped - I think the owners must be either chefs or have a very big passion for food, there is literally everything you could possibly need to cook and entertain. It feels totally secure and safe as in a gated development that is patrolled at night and its very easy to visit the nearby vineyards and attractions. The garden backs on to the equestrian centre so you can see the beautiful horses from one of the bedrooms and the garden has an abundance of fruit trees: pomegranates, the biggest limes and lemons you have ever seen, which we were told to help ourselves to by Nathan. Although the house is on an estate, once in the house you feel that you have no neighbours as the garden has been so well landscaped and with the position of the house being quite set back it feels like there is no one else around.... The backdrop of the mountains just completes this idyllic oasis. I really can't say enough good things about this property.. Izak was great and was prompt to reply to my questions which I had quite a few and Nathan who looked after us during our stay was amazing. I will definitely return and hopefully stay much longer. Thank you Izak and Nathan! 10/10
