“Home away from Home”

Beginning from the prompt communication, ease of information, all the way to the plethora of amenities provided, the hostess went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. As we were reaching Franschhoek after a 9 hour long drive, the hostess ensured we had all the right information for a super easy check-in and comfortable settling-in. She answered all our queries promptly and even allowed us a late checkout as we wanted to enjoy the Farmer's market before leaving for the airport in CT. It was possible only perhaps due to off season / no subsequent check-in on that day. We are a fan of self-catering accommodations and The Village Cottage has set a new/much higher standard , one that would be difficult to match in any other town, city or country.

What an EXCEPTIONAL place to stay! From the moment of check in until we left, we had fantastic communication with our delightful, helpful and friendly host. The place was impeccably appointed with luxury everywhere we looked. She had stocked the fridge with all sorts of goodies and left the most delectable chocolates for us too. Nothing was too much effort. The bedrooms were incredibly comfortable and well appointed. With such lovely complimentary body products. The lounge and kitchen area was fabulous with lots of comfortable seating. A fantastic secure outdoor area had delightful seating and a bbq too. There were two sets of keys to everything and a washing machine in the adjoining garage. There was actually nothing that hadn’t been thought of and provided. We were blown away! Added to everything was another parking spot inside a locked security gate. And THEN, the location…wow, wow, WOW. A lovely quiet street, surrounded by mountains and the shortest walk to the charming township. So quaint with its lovely shops, and a fantastic array of restaurants. We had three nights there but could have EASILY stayed a week or more. Easy driving to amazing wineries and galleries. To say we loved the place is an understatement. A definite 10/10 all round. Amazing. Incredible. Charming. We will be back again, I hope!

The Village Cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the main part of Franschhoek by foot. There are numerous bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance (no drinking and driving problems). The cottage was extremely beautifully designed with an eye for detail. The air conditioning in all the rooms was a great bonus as it is very hot. The bathrooms were of a very modern design and catered for all our needs. The kitchen is very well equipped and of the highest standard. The complementary champagne and chocolates was most welcome after a long drive. The supply of milk for our morning coffee was also appreciated. On departure we met Claire who was most hospitable. All in all you can't fault this beautiful establishment.

Property was much larger and nicer than it even looked in pictures. Area felt really safe. There were so many home comforts and little extras that made the property extra special. Host was really informative and kept us up to date often as there were fires in the area. Location was amazing and convenient for walking to the wine tram. We went to one of the restaurants recommended by the host and it was amazing.

We had a wonderful week staying at this beautiful property in Franschhoek. The two-bedroom en-suite accommodation is impeccably decorated and equipped with absolutely everything you could wish for — if you think of it, it’s there. The attention to detail gives it a true boutique-hotel feel. A special thank you to Claire for the mid-stay clean, which was such a thoughtful touch. Everything was perfect from start to finish, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend this property highly.
