Wendy and Nishan’s place is like nowhere we’ve been before. The decor, attention to detail, quality and the well stocked fridge and bar were absolutely amazing and were the icing on the cake of our honeymoon trip. We loved Franschoek and would love to return again to bring family and friends to Monument House.

Very stylish and modern rooms with all creature comforts. Fantastic location and beautiful setting. Complimentary laundry and ironing service is just great. Complimentary mini bar and snacks. Very quiet at night for a great night's sleep. Good that the hosts organize vouchers for breakfasts at a number of other locations so you get to see the town and a variety of places. Lovely hosts.

Wendy has a passion and a flair for what she does. Went above and beyond for us to make sure our stay was a dream. From the most comfortable beds we’ve ever had, to every accent on the property and all the perks she provides this place will remain in our hearts forever. If you’re even thinking about it do yourself a favour and go!! Also bonus is her adorable dog.

Monument House has a Breakfast Odyssey arrangement where you have breakfast at another location recommended by our hosts. We thought this was a brilliant idea. It allowed us to try other restaurants and enjoy other beautiful locales.

Fabulous new hotel in Franschhoek .. well I say hotel but it was more like staying in someone's home.. and a very very nice one at that... And one that you do not want to leave...The grounds are absolutely stunning with the views of the mountains ...and the pool is fantastic... and actually the warmest one I have been in during my many trips to South Africa.. normally they are freezing.... ! The effort and thought that has gone into the design and aesthetics of Monument House is mind blowing.. every little creative detail.. you notice more and more as each day goes by .. no load shedding.. this goes without saying of course.. Wendy and Nishan.. the creators of this amazing space are fantastic hosts and certainly know how to create a top notch guest experience... from the concierge service (booking restaurants and transport) to the personally served drinks by the pool, to the free wine and treats in the room, to the beautifully styled bedroom and bathroom, and very comfortable beds .. what more could anyone want? Ingenious concept of the breakfast Odyssey that gets you to experience other places in the village.. Le Cotte was my favourite with its stunning views across the beautiful Franshhoek valley .. would love to go back to MH again and stay in one of the bigger apartments .. Thank you Wendy and Nishan.. just incredible.

Absolutely everything! Wendy and her husband are the best and most welcoming hosts. Their residence is amazing and decorated to the last detail with such perfection and beauty. Loved everything about this place and the fact that they also book you breakfast in other hotels which we found super nice as a concept as it allows you to visit other places in the area! Would definitely come back here and highly recommend a stay here if in the area. The absolute best!

“What an amazing place”

What an amazing property. The room and grounds were absolutely stunning. It was very hot when we stayed and the A/C worked well, including during load shedding. Wendy was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us including arranging transport and restaurant bookings. Highly recommended.

“Beautiful Design-Hideaway in Franschhoek”

Monument House is a beautiful and very design orientated small boutique hotel. Wendy, one of the owners, decorated the apartments very thoughtful and stylish. Surrounded by a breathtaking view Monument House is located only a short walk away from beautiful Franschhoek. A marvelous Garden and pool gives a perfect ambient to relax. Within the apartments there is everything one can need for a luxurious and relaxing stay. The hosts are very caring and thoughtful. We had an amazing stay and wish to come back in the future :) highly recommended!

Absolutely stunning place, wonderfully designed up to every detail. Hosts Wendy and Nishan have been very welcoming and accommodating (including a nice glass of wine or two....). We loved the breakfast setup, to experience various places in Franschhoek and room and outdoor area was simply perfect. We hope to come back again soon!

I have been fortunate to stay in some incredible properties all over the world. To say that this place ranks among the best boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in would be an understatement! This is a relatively small property with several self-contained apartments / villas, and a couple of suites, surrounding a pretty pool and sunbathing area. The design and decor of the apartments and the property as a whole is incredible. The premium fixtures and fittings, and the upscale design shows that it has clearly been a passion project for Wendy, the owner and host! I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here, and I hope I can visit again soon.

“Best luxury place I have visited”

Monument House is a labor of love. Wendy’s history with interior design goes back over two decades and it shows. Our cottage was meticulously and tastefully designed, and the longer I looked around me, the more details I did see. Actually, the whole estate oozes thoughtfulness. The gardens are a delight to be in, as is the pool if weather allows. The location is beautiful, near the mountain slopes just a few hundred meters from the Southern edge of Franschhoek, so many restaurants are within walking distance. A lot of attention is paid to security. Wendy is a lively, friendly person who will do her utmost to make you feel at home, as is her husband Nishan. On arrival we found the cottage appointed with wine, snacks, and some food - and could make our own G&T! Breakfast is through vouchers for local high end (hotel)restaurants. Just a short drive or walk, and I like some variety to my mornings. You could very well prepare your own breakfast in a cottage though if you so desire, as there is a full kitchen. If you want a luxury stay in Franschhoek, I can strongly recommend Monument House.
