“Worst stay in 3 weeks in New Zealand”

Very dated, flaking paint on windows outside, shower not good for taller people , shocking breakfast. Room was serviced but that didn't include washing/replacing the mugs from the previous day

“At the heart of Fox Glazier, old style hotel with exceptional friendly staff”

The oldest hotel in Fox Glazier as been completely renovated, so it has the charm and ornaments of the old hotel yet the rooms are modern. I guess you pay a premium for both the glazier area as the centrally located hotel (with pub/restaurant indoors, other restaurants, convenience shop and petrol station around the corner), some walking options walkable, hiking options very nearby. If only part of the spacious bathroom could have been part of the rather small room, and mind you that the very friendly and service oriented manager allowed us to change the even smaller room we were offered at first. For a 194cm tall person the bed is so short the feet stick out. The friendly staff in the hotel and breakfast makes up for a lot (friendliest we met in the whole of NZ so far) and the overall experience for the highest price we pay compacted to any other hotel, motel or apartment does not.

Fantastic reception and stay! We even got a free bottle of wine! Easily the best on our journey so far

Location & facilities were very good & nice size room, the restaurant staff were wonderful & very helpful & friendly. Wonderful food both dinner & breakfast, highly recommend the restaurant. Loved the character of the old hotel.

We were disappointed and dismayed at the tiny size of our room in this so-called high star rated hotel. Booking 3-4 months in advance still only gave us this room which had a very noisy generator outside which meant our windows had to remain closed on a warm night. Whilst the restaurant and bar and old-world feeling were ok, we wouldn't return given the many other choices available in the area.

Lovely spacious room in a charming hotel. The room had recently been refurbished and had a good bed and nice linen. Very nice breakfast room and restaurant dining room and bar. Location near Lake Matheson was a plus.

Great staff, nice old hotel. Close to everything there is to do in Fox Glacier.

Very luxurious. Great location. And just a few mins down the road is dark sky and could see the Aurora Australis

I liked the location but its a very old hotel and not value for the money.
