The place honestly surprised me in the best way. The staff were insanely helpful — anything I needed, they handled right away and always with a great attitude. I really felt welcomed and taken care of the whole time. Wish more places worked like this. Totally recommend.

The view of the volcano, especially for sunrise, is the absolute highlight of the property! Outstanding is also the attention of the caretaker, very lovely man who is always there to help. The facilities are basic but clean. Clear and helpful instructions about reaching the place and parking our car were given to us prior to arrival. An absolutely great deal for what we paid and it even included a yummy typical breakfast. We absolutely recommend it for adventurous budget-conscious travelers!

“Difficult to reach and unfriendly staff”

If you don’t have a car, traveling there is complicated. I couldn’t find information on the internet and just found out in La Fortuna that it would have cost me about 60$ to go to that place and leave. I asked to get the money back because they charge you beforehand (which I never had to do in Costa Rica by the way, always paying on arrival) but they just told me I should have better planned my travel route. Not fair considering the limited information available on the internet.

Amazing view, nice breakfast, very helpful host. The road up is somewhat challenging if you don't have a suv, but manageable.

The view is amazing. Comfortable bed. Very well equipped kitchen. 2 fridgefreezers so can freeze drinks for next day. Delicious breakfast. Lovely hosts. The garden is a haven for the birds. Swam in lake. Saw deer, anteater, monkeys . Videoed hummingbirds feeding from the banana tree. Bus to La Fortuna 7am, return 5pm. Almost Heaven.

“Excellent”

Such a beautiful place! Unfortunately it was raining when I was there so the volcano was covered in clouds. Peaceful, calm environment, a comfy bed and the most adorable cats and dogs. Isaias was super friendly and prepared delicious breakfast in the morning.

The view is outstanding with Arenal lake and Arenal Volcano right in front. Ingrid and her husband are very nice. Ingrid helped me a lot with planning the test of my trip in Costa Rica. A good breakfast in the morning. A complete kitchen to cook your own meals which I like to do. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. I was there for 6 nights. I was sad to leave.

Super friendly hosts Magnific view of vulcano from just outside your cottage/tent. Kitchen and sanitary are chared. Good breakfast. Ideal for bird-watchers, many birds just pass by in early morning. (Toucan).

“Great view, difficult drive”

We stayed in tents but with real beds so quite comfortable. The view over the lake and vulcano is beautiful but the road to the location is very steep and rocky. Maybe not manageble at rain with 2WD. Walking is then 5min by foot.

“Worth every cent/colones.”

The view was absolutely amazing and the host was super nice and chatty (we don’t really speak Spanish but still). We stayed there for breakfast, and if you are staying there you MUST try the breakfast. It was outstanding. The bathroom was clean and kitchen well equipped. It’s a small camp so it feels very private.

“The best place is el castillo”

This is an amazing way to see el castillo and have one of the best views of arenal! Run by a Costa Rican man who is absolutely lovely and makes an amazing breakfast. We were upgraded rooms when we arrived for no extra cost which was a great surprise! Raw, real and beautiful costa rica!

Beautiful view, great price. There is wifi and power available as well which was a nice bonus as it wasn't mentioned in their listing. Owner was very friendly!
