Angela and Armando were amazing, both willing to go above and beyond

Angela greeted us on arrival and gave us a tour of the facilities which was really helpful. She made us feel very welcome and answered all our queries. The accommodation was exceptional - the best place we stayed in over the 2 weeks in Costa Rica.

Run by a very lovely couple Angela and Armando who were very friendly and helpful. The Facilities were very well maintained and clean! I did the sloth tour and night tour which i for sure would recommend! (Saw sloths, Toucan, various Frogs, lizards, Iguana and some lovely birds). Booking all kinds of other tours around La Fortuna is super easily done since they work closely with their neighbour Hotel Xilopalo who you can book all the further tours with - this i found to be very convenient and comfortable since i only had 2 days in La Fortuna but still go to squeeze in various tours!

“Modern, spotless and with an incredible view”

The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was exceptionally clean, very modern and well maintained, while still feeling cozy and comfortable. The room had a large terrace with a small kitchenette, fridge and coffee machine, and the view was simply incredible, it felt like we could almost touch the volcano. There was always hot water, plenty of towels, large and very comfortable beds, a hairdryer and high-quality bathroom products. Well done, Angela!

Clean room with excellent view and large balcony. The wild life and how easy it is to see it all around the hotel was amazing.

Amazing stay, Ángela was a great host who was happy to help with everything, and provided lots of good information. Room was a nice size with a good balcony and a nice bathroom. A short walk to the centre. Would highly recommend

“Volcano views and stunning room”

Cannot rate this property enough, really modern huge room and even bigger balcony with an outside kitchen on and coffee maker. All top quality finishes and everything you could possibly need. The owner is lovely and helpful and we did the night tour round the garden like others have said, lots to see. Also used the travel agent next door and trips picked up from hotel so that was great too. Nice that you can use the facilities from next door with the pool if you want. Amazing place. Only five minutes walk into town too.

Close to walking around downtown. The owners were great. Nice fridge and balcony. Great view of volcano.

“Most incredible stay”

An absolutely incredible stay at Arenal Monara. Angela and Armando are the most amazing hosts. Amando gave us a tour of the gardens one night and we saw wildlife on the tour than we have with the tours. The room is so so clean and lovely. Every day is was cleaned for us with fresh towels. All the activities were sold out but they were able to book us onto everything the day before. This was far tbe best part of our trip in Costa Rica. You can also walk into town in like 3- 4 mins. I wish we had stayed longer - we already miss it.

Quiet and safe location in town. Great view of the Arenal from the room and balcony. Large parking space and free nature tour offered by the owner.

Really nice place, handy for the main road in La Fortuna for places to eat/drink etc but in nice quiet location. Great room with really nice private terrace/balcony and good facilities (aircon, WiFi fridge, clothes drying rack etc). Owners are great and run a good sloth spotting tour too

“Exceptional hotel in a perfect area with friendly staff”

Set in beautiful grounds with toucans around and an easy 10 minute walk into La Fortuna. The room was beautiful and comfy with a gorgeous balcony area.

Armando's night frog tours were a real highlight of our stay in La Fortuna. He's both great at finding them and sharing interesting insights. Angela was very quick in helping us with any queries we had. The partnership with the hotel next door was very useful for breakfast as well as booking onward travel.

Amazing, very kind and tactful family.

The host is lovely and welcoming. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and had its own large, private balcony with seating, an outdoor sink and refrigerator.

“Rainy but very enjoyable few days”

Each day they put out bananas in a couple of areas. One near the balcony and another near the restaurant, lots of birds came each day to feed, watching them was fascinating. Staff were super helpful - it rained every day and they lent us umbrellas. They also offer a free short night tour of the grounds and pointed out wildlife such as frogs. Town centre was very near a 5-10 minute walk. Eco as well recycling. Was able to get into our room earlier as well. They offer tours but we had booked beforehand. Would definitely stay again.

The location on the edge of town was perfect! With the forest and mountain view and wide variety of wildlife, what more could you ask for? Only a few minutes walk into town for groceries, restaurants, coffee shops. The room was extremely nice with a big veranda looking into the forest and a view of the Volcano.

“Fantastic location, amazing hosts. Top place to stay and top sloth tour.”

Spacious, comfortable bed, good shower and ample dedicated parking. Great location a very short walk to town yet also feeling rural and relaxing. The large balcony was the best though with a perfect view of the volcano and a wide selection of birds constant visitors to the feeders below. Also complete with tea making facilities, a fridge and comfy sofas, fab place for breakfast or a relaxing glass of wine later on. Angela was a wonderful hostess ensuring your stay is comfortable, and Armando is the best wildlife guide we had while in Costa Rica. Really recommend his sloth tour. We saw both 2 and 3 toed sloths, monkeys, bats, and various lizards and birds. Fantastic experience. Really enjoyed the frog tour after dark too.
