“A lovely spot”
The staff here are delightful. Very warm and caring. The room was basic but value for money. Showers and toilets were shared but clean and efficient. The view over the lake is beautiful. Food was nutritious and ample. Be wary of Google Maps taking you the wrong way if you are heading north from here. We were scared by the route it chose!

“A superb retreat at the heart of the community.”
The location is amazing with fabulous views. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the food is delicious. Cosy rooms and a beautiful terrace to enjoy the views. The boat trip on the lake was magical too. The project does great work and it was good to be able to contribute to it by staying here. Highly recommend a few days here.

“Beautiful, peaceful and serene stay.”
We loved our stay in Mwamba Kelele Lodge. The lodge is beautifully situated with an amazing view across the lake. The lodge is run as a non-profit, re-investing in the local community. There is a school onsite which is run from the profits and they also run classes for local mothers. There is an excellent range of local activities, we particularly enjoyed the evening run with John where he all taught us about the local crater lakes. The food provided was delicious and the bedroom was clean and comfy. The showers were the best we have had in Uganda, with plenty of hot water. We would 100% recommend. Would recommend bringing cash as signal for the card machine was limited.

“Really not bad. The view made up for the inconveniences!!”
It was inside on village roads...expect rustic and you'll be fine. It was a good African experience for my guest.

“Amazing location, people, food, and experience! Would stay again!”
The best part of the lodge is that it is an NGO and has completely changed the local community! All the following aspects made for a wonderful week: - The location is beautiful, overlooking the lake on a beautifully maintained property. - The food was truly amazing! I lived in France for 13 years which is renowned for food and this was comparable. - The staff are very friendly and helpful. We also had the very rare opportunity to share the week with the NGO founders who were visiting from Spain to conduct ongoing business. They are beautiful, humble people who have sacrificed so much for others in needs. They immediately earned our respect. - There are many interesting activities to do around the lodge, all run by locals, in partnership with the lodge (e.g., bird watching on a boat on the lake, vanilla production tour, coffee production tour, visit to the local market, meeting the children in the school, etc.)

“Lovely experience of the edge of a beautiful crater lake.”
Beautiful location on the side of a crater lake, Mwambe Kelele is more than a lodge; it's a project to improve the fate of the surrounding communities, by enabling the children to go to the adjacent school and giving the women vocational training. Expect a marvellous experience sharing delicious food from chef Julius with the other guests, going on hikes and bike rides in the vicinity with local tour guide John, and engage with the community members. The rest of the female staff (Asunta, Maria) were also incredible kind and caring. Oh, and the view from the communal shower is breathtaking!

“The perfect stay if you want to enjoy while also learning and contributing to the live of others”
Amazing experience staying at Mwamba Kelele Lodge. In addition to the kind staff, amazing food they prepare and well maintained lodge at a beautiful location right at the lake - it has been very special to learn more about the community work the team does and the impact they have made to improve the lives of the people of Kimya.

“Lovely place to hang out for a few days and explore the area. Beautiful views and lots of wildlife”
The location overlooking the lake is great and as we had one of the separate rooms it was very quiet. The food was tasty and the staff very friendly.

“Stunning sunsets every evening in a well presented and clean lodge.”
Stunning location with incredible sunset view over the lake each evening. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, well kept and cool to sleep in during the night. Meals were served very professionally in the dining area and cost $12 (or 45,000) per person per meal. It is a fixed menu for each meal but if you have any special requirements or preferences these can be catered for. Overall the food was of excellent quality. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The lodge is located on the same site as the school which it supports. The manager (Maria) was kind enough to show us around the school and talk us through its purpose. There was also a craft shop onsite with local clothes and crafts made by the village were on sale. We hired bikes for 30,000 per bike and did a self-guided cycle around the lakes. There is also an informal 6km route around Mwamba lake we did one morning too. Other activities can be organised through a contact the lodge has or you can be picked up by other tour operators from the lodge. There were also a number of volunteers staying at the lodge who were helping with the school and community projects who we enjoyed getting to know and having meals with.

“Amazing experience in Crater Lakes area”
The view on the Lake is amazing and you can do a lot of bird watching. The employees are all very kind and the food prepared is one of the best I had these last months of travel. The lodge is also just besides a school and the benefits of the lodge goes to support community project such as education.

“Great stay - hope to be back.”
Staff are lovely, very helpful arranging excursions/taxi, and opening the craft shop out of hours. The location is gorgeous. Simple accommodation but clean, comfortable and a great place to relax and see some of the beautiful area. The guard / pet is also the most chilled out dog in Uganda!
