Chris and Dave made us feel very welcome on arrival, showed us all the facilities and explained how everything worked and then left us alone to enjoy their wonderful property without intruding on us. We were incredibly fortunate to have very good weather so that the pool in particular and also the outside space for eating al fresco meant we could take full advantage of all that the property had to offer.

“Terrible, several mice in the house and the house was less luxurious than shown in the photos.”

Horrible. There were several mice in the house. Mouse droppings on the table, between the food. We saw the mice in the kitchen / living room and bedroom. Waking up at night and seeing a mouse walking in the bedroom is horrible. The cottage was also not as luxurious as in the pictures. Outside is a wooden bench that dries only slowly. Inside a very small table, a seat that can be folded out as a bed and does not sit well at all. The room at the swimming pool was dirthy at the end of our holiday... Although they are probably friendly owners, the house needs to be much better maintained and more luxurious. The mice must absolutely be combated.

We had a wonderful week. Christine and David made us feel welcome right from the very start with a warm welcome upon arrival, a basket filled with tasty goods (even for our two sons of 7 and 9) and a fridge with some home-made and delicious treats. Throughout our stay they maintained a perfect balance between respecting our privacy and making sure to be there and help out whenever we had questions. Christine and David are not just friendly people, they are truely warm people with a very big heart for their guests. The setting is quite impressive. The gatehouse is not only part of a historic domain in a beautiful region, it is just lovely. It is inviting, cosy, tidy, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The garden next to the gite was more than big enough for our sons (and for us) to play football, twister, jeu de boules, ... and the soft splashing of the river next to the gite added to the overall peacefulness of the location. The pool was downright impressive. It was big, clean and at perfect temperature, and the hosts even made sure there were some new pool toys. In addition, there is a large lounge adjacent to it, with even a pingpong table ànd a foosball table. Needless to say that it was sometimes very difficult to get our sons to get out of the pool/lounge. In short, our week at the gatehouse was absolutely amazing, thanks to what the domain had on offer, but not in the least thanks to the kindness and care of Christine and David.
