“One of our most unforgettable stays!”

This is such a beautiful riad, the location is also great and on top of that, the hospitality of the staff at this place really went beyond our expectation! We arrived in Fes around 05.30 by night bus from Merzouga but the bus was delayed in 1,5 hours. We booked a transfer to the riad in advance and the driver waitted for us at the bus station so patiently and he greeted us warmly without any complain about the delay. We didn't expect to be able to get some sleep before the checkin time but the staff was SOOO kind and provided us two couches so we could take a nap before the guests from the room we booked checked out in the morning. The room was also very nice, it had a loft bed which reminded us of the rooms we saw at Madrasa Ben Youssef in Marrakech :) We also took a drink on the terrasse in the evening and enjoyed the beautiful view of Fes. It was definitely one of our most unforgettable stays during our trip in Tunisia and Marocko <3

“Overall good experience in a beautiful setting. Room unnecessarily dark.”

The courtyard is absolutely beautiful and definitely gave us the overall riad experience we wanted . Dinner in the courtyard was very nice. Staff were pleasant. They offered an early breakfast for our departure day, which we appreciated, but unfortunately nothing was ready for the scheduled time, which meant we needed to rush through it so that we could take our taxi to the airport.

“Very pleasant stay”

The Riad has a beautiful courtyard, where you get your breakfast and we had a very spacious room. The location is in walking distance to the Blue gate and other areas of Fes El Bali, however the streets are narrow and quieter in night. during the day you feel safe, ok in the earlu evening if you already did the route. But, the Riad is 2min away from Bab Ziat gate, which is accessible by taxi. Also, the hotel arranges airport transportation, it was more expensive than a usual taxi but convenient. Breakfast was decent. Staff was very helpful.

- Hospitality by the staff was exceptional. Muhammad made sure we are well taken care just like a family member. He paid attention that my kid liked their croissant, he made sure he gets it everyday despite it's not on the menu. - Location was perfect, close to the main road means it's easy during check in and check out with all the bags. 10 minutes walk to the medina which is an easy walk guided by Google maps. - Nejarine room is at ground floor, it's easy access, clean, doesn't smell and something we look forward coming back daily. - courtyard is really beautiful. Check out the rooftop too! - Breakfast spread is something. - laundry service is extremely fast. Sent a full basket in the morning and it's all ready in the evening.

“A wonderful experience that we’ll never forget”

We just had the most wonderful 5 nights at Riad Al Bartal - I’m very sad to leave! There are so many wonderful things to say, but I’ll start with the food - *please* do yourselves a favour and eat your dinner at the riad! We’ve dined at many top-rated restaurants in Marrakech and Fez, and the delicious meals prepared with love by the riad’s talented cooks were far and away the best of our trip. A different set menu each night using fresh produce and featuring the most delightful flavours… each day we were honestly counting down the hours until we got to enjoy the next meal. The daily breakfast was plentiful and yummy as well, with variation each morning. The riad itself is truly beautiful, filled with art and exquisite details. The lush courtyard is an enchanting space, the perfect place to relax after a day of adventures, and the 360 degree view from the rooftop is incredible. The owner’s pet bird Poulette, who could be found in various spots within the courtyard, sang regularly throughout the day and added to the wonderful atmosphere! The location is perfect - right at the edge of the Medina, so it’s easy to find (an important factor in a city as labyrinth-like as this one!). Our suite (Taquile, the Superior Double Room), was gorgeous and spacious - the highest ceilings we’ve ever slept under! The mattress is quite firm which did cause some issues for me as I have back problems, but I just folded the single bed cover underneath me and that helped a lot (other people might be fine with this style of mattress). Our biggest praise goes to the warm and lovely staff: Hamza, Dounia, Fatine, Hassan, Zeyad, Fouad and the owner Ray. Everyone was so incredibly kind and friendly, and elevated our stay immensely. We’re so grateful to them all, and hope that we’re lucky enough to visit again one day!

We loved our stay at Riad al Bartal! The rooms and courtyard were beautiful and very peaceful and relaxing. The food was delicious, especially the dinner which we had one night. The riad arranged transfers to the airport and also a guide for the medina, which I would highly recommend!

This place is truly a gem, an oasis of peace amidst the bustling city of Fez. The riad is exquisitely decorated and is filled with charming details. The lush courtyard provides a welcome escape from the city's hustle and bustle, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day exploring the medina. Its convenient location right at the entrance of the city makes it easy to find and access. Our room, named Berber, was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, featuring an additional bed downstairs to accommodate our teenage son. The staff is exceptionally welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. You can expect a prompt response to any inquiries you may have, even prior to your arrival (and I had many!). We had an early check-out, and they graciously offered us breakfast at such an early hour (5:30 AM!), which was a lovely and unexpected gesture. Breakfast is both delicious and abundant, served in the serene courtyard, providing the ideal start to your day. The delightful Poulette enhances the experience with her lovely singing. I will certainly recommend this place to anyone planning to visit Fez, and I hope to return one day. Fun fact: the riad is listed in my trusted and loyal Lonely Planet from 20 years ago, when I first visited Morocco (but didn't make it to Fez at the time) and was positively reviewed and highly recommended even back then.

The Riad Al Bartal is fabulous and exceeded our expectations. It's a very peaceful and beautifully decorated space. While you're staying there, please don't miss having dinner at the riad. The food was the best we had on our entire Morocco trip. Clearly a 10/10!

We had a wonderful stay at this Riad in Fes. What stood out the most was the incredibly kind and helpful staff – you feel welcome and well taken care of from the very first moment. The interior courtyard is absolutely beautiful: very tastefully designed, peaceful, and full of charming details – a little oasis in the middle of the city. The rooms are simple but lovingly and thoughtfully decorated, creating a very pleasant and personal atmosphere. The location is also great – about a 10 to 15-minute walk to the old town. Breakfast was sufficient, though a bit too sweet for my taste – probably typical for the region. Still, a nice way to start the day. All in all, highly recommended!
