On arrival, you pass through the historical wooden studded door and step into a world of colourful delight. The contrast with the medina outside is immediate. The interior is stunning — a blend of carved wood, cool marble, and a small fountain feature that adds to the charm. It’s a beautiful place to have breakfast, or simply to sit, breathe, and relax. A warm welcome awaits you. I was greeted with smiles and, within minutes, a traditional mint tea — a gesture that sets the tone for the stay. As an observation, if you have any difficulties with steps or stairs, be aware that this riad may present a challenge. I stayed on the top floor, and although the climb was steep, the reward was a bedroom full of colour and character. The occasional cockerel greeting the morning at unpredictable hours is part of the experience too. Cockerels, calls to prayer, and even a friendly tortoise all contribute to the unique rhythm of life here.

The lady preparing our breakfast is very friendly and considerable. The first day we asked for tea for my wife and the second morning, there is already a pot of tea on the table when we got up for breakfast. The host sent us to the taxi picking up after we checked out. People living in the Riad are friendly and we had a nice talk in the comfort court yard in evening.

The staff is very kind and friendly. The terrace is lovely.

“Excellent base for the Fez experience”

A fine place to return to after a busy day in the medina. Our host, Mourad, was very helpful withn organizing transfers from the train station on arrival, and - at the end of our stay - to the airport. Our room, on the top floor - near the rooftop terrace - was large and comfortable. The rooftop terrace is very welcome on warm spring evenings. On our last evening, we eat dinner at the riad, and it was one of the best meals of our entire visit to Morroco. It's complicated to navigate the Fez medina, with many small passages and wrong turns - of course, this is a fascinating part of the Fez experience - so it's a good idea to take advantage of the transfer the riad can arrange when you first arrive. Aftet that, you can always find your way using Google maps.

What a gorgeous place deep in the medina. To sit on the roof terrace in the sun with the roofs of Fez and the birds singing was heaven. Plus the cutest tortoise.

This place was amazing. The host was very kind and ready to help in any way. The rooms are big and clean.

This is one of the best places we have ever stayed at, I cannot recommend it enough. I'll start with the most important, which is the people. Murad and the others made us feel like welcome guests rather than customers. They went out of their way to ensure that we weren't missing a thing. Starting with small things like ensuring we always have drinking water, to doing our laundry when we asked - without extra charge I might add. This is in addition to helping organize things during our stay. The room itself was beautiful, big, clean, comfortable and quiet. The riad is beautiful. Do yourself a favor and book this.

The hotel manager Mourak was fantastic. He spoke perfect English (among other languages) and was very helpful, even accompanying us to various places close by to make sure we do not get lost in the medina Maze. He was available every time we needed something. We had nice conversions with him about the maroccen culture - we really appreciated it. The kitchen lady was very nice and although she spoke no english we understood each other

“Beautiful place to stay in Fes”

Mourad was an awesome host, picking us up from the shuttle bus stop and always available for hints or just a quick talk. The room was amazing, the beds super comfy and the shower great. It was quite and the AC worked perfectly. The riad itself is beautiful. The location has its own charm. Sometimes the people around can be a bit annoying (trying to trick you all the time), but you also get to see some local life around, so overall ok.

It was a lovely place, super friendly staf, good breakfast I would recommend the riad and would love to go back! Thanks for the wonderfull stay

“You cannot expect more”

The Dar Faracha is a beautiful house, made very comfortable for guests. But what makes really the difference is the host: Maroud is able to make you feel at home, giving all the necessary assistance you may have, tailored for your needs. His friendliness is highly appreciated together with his professionalism. And what to say about the very nice lady who takes care of the breakfast and dinner? She is an unbelievable cook and a lovely person: if you stay there, ask for a dinner; you will be surprised by the quality and the flavor of food, a very enjoyable journey in the Moroccan cuisine. We loved our staying at Dar Faracha and recommend it: next time in Fes we will surely return there.

“Classic riad in the medina, with an amazing host!”

The one that makes a review +11 is the host, Mourad, who not only went out of his way with everything about the stay, but also shared information about customs and tips & tricks to find your way in the medina (like the shape of the street sign tiles; hexagon = dead end, square = pass through - no matter what the kids hanging around tells you). It is a riad in the medina, and as such it is fantastic. Yes - it is a maze to find it - but that's the medina, no matter if it is Fez or Marrakech.

Location directly in Medina close to main objectives. Good breakfast. Nice roof top terrace. The host Mourad was very nice and helpful with any questions and requests like restaurants recommendation, exchange, sightseeing etc. His personal involvement in the business is obvious and valuable as Medina Fez is not easy to get around.
