The breakfast was good. We used the communal kitchen to eat cereal and make toast. It was a quiet spot and very clean. We were within walking distance to downtown and restaurants.

I didn't actually get to Featherston as the Remutaka Road was closed??? I found this out while on the Motorway to Upper Hutt and was extremely disappointed as I felt that the Hosts of Magnolia House should have been aware of this but they took my booking knowing I was on the 7.15pm Ferry from Picton to Wellington and actually told me I would be arriving after 12pm and they would leave the light on and the door unlocked. Obviously I had a nightmare of a night after I learned the road was closed for maintenance and I found out later that the notice was published from the Featherston side a few weeks in advance?? why didn't the host tell me???

Excellent, comfortable facilities in enormous, shared open-plan kitchen/lounge room. Comfortable, spacious bedrooms and modern, roomy bathrooms.

“Absolutely lovely stay, very welcoming, warm and homey!”

The room was absolutely perfect for our overnight stay. Everything was well appointed, felt fresh and clean. Really nice having a fridge in our room, complete with tea and coffee making facilities, milk in the fridge and a wee sweet bonus of a few lollies to tide us over. Having the bathroom right next door was no hassle, and the use of bath robes was a really nice touch. The shared kitchen is extremely well appointed, clean and tidy. Met one of the permanent guest who was just lovely. Overall, a really nice stay, and we'll definately be back!! Oh, and we didn't get disturbed by any train noise at all.

Very central location, very clean room and facilities, well appointed kitchen. It is a great option if you want to ride the Rimutaka Rail Trail as you can catch the train to Maymorn and ride back to Featherston.

The room was very quiet while we were there but the trains were not running. I think normally it could be quite noisy as the train track is right beside the house.

Very well organised for sharing the big kitchen and bathrooms. Very nice and personal touch in every room. Welcoming host, nice garden and outdoor area. Car parking on property, vicinity to shops and local attractions (pinnacles, cape palliser, Greytown...).

Friendly welcome by owners and the kitty cats, well presented accomodation - fabulous kitchen and shared living spaces. Spotlessly clean, thoughtful touches - we will be return guests next time.

I like the location, just a quick trip over the hills to wellington. Close t the railway station - very convenient. Plenty of parking. Beautiful gardens and room. Hosts very friendly and kind people. (2 gerat cats)

The furnishings were lovely and the garden too. Great service from owner. I liked that there were 3 bathrooms and a large communal lounge and kitchen. I liked the dressing gowns in the bedroom. Handy location. It was great that bodywash was provided.
